Old News.
This is just a short update to our current news. We departed Kuah on 14 January and sailed via Phuket to the Similan islands, where we stayed for three days. The water was clear and clean with fish and coral the like of which we have not seen in a very long time. Finally got some wind from the NE and sailed to Port Blair in the Andaman Islands. The trip took 72 hours and we did not see a single ship or fishing boat for nearly 60 hours. Our arrival in Port Blair was marked by a greeting from a large pod of Dolphine who came and played with us just outside the harbour entrance. All formalities took almost two days to complete. We are now going to head out into the islands for a look around. Expected departure 08. 02. 02. For Cochin in India.
The following is our old news still attached. Will get time to sort it out later. Thanks for being with us.
So here we are in January 2002 already. The last year has just flown by for us and most of it seems to have been spent on boat maintenance.
The end result is a reconfigured boat that we are both very pleased with.
We are now stocked up and ready to begin our year of adventures. We expect to leave Langkawi on or around the 9 January and head towards Port Blair in the Andaman Islands. The rhum line distance is 550 miles, which will take us about one week to cover. We will pass very close to Phuket in Thailand and if conditions are less than good we may stop for a few days in Phuket and the Thai islands, until conditions become more acceptable to us.
That really is all of the current news. January is a sailing month!
