Elves:

Elves, who came to Middle Earth from over the seas, are the oldest speaking race of Middle Earth. They are resistant to the extremes of nature, and are ageless. However, they can be slain or die of grief.

They are humanoid in appearance, standing the height of a tall man, and are very slender. There is a strange mystical appearance to them, and they seem to glow from within. Although they look fragile, they are quite strong and can endure much hardness.

Their senses are much keener than Men’s, and as a result they can see further and hear better than humans.

Elves love all beautiful things, finding much pleasure in nature aspects such as water and stars. They are naturally good, and can’t stand evil in any form. They seek to live in peace, but are not too friendly with Dwarves, or Men. They often blame Men for not destroying Sauron when the opportunity was present.

Arwen:

Arwen

Daughter of Elrond Halfelven and Celebrian, daughter of Galadriel, Arwen is famed as the most beautiful of all living things. She is millennia old, and like her father, is filled with wisdom and lore of ages.

And like her father, she too faces the Choice of the Halfelven: to become of mortal kind and die in Middle Earth or to take the ship into the West. Whilst dwelling in Lothlórien, she met and fell in love with Aragorn. For him, she is willing to sacrifice all...

Celeborn:

Celeborn

Celeborn is one of the oldest Elves still left in Middle-Earth. After the Fellowship escape from the horrors of Moria, they proceed to Lothelorien. Here, they meet both Galadriel and Celeborn, who guided them following actions and provisioned them with the necessary equipment and hope to continue the Quest.

Elrond:

Elrond

Elrond fought alongside Gil-galad at the Battle of Dagorlad, acting as his herald. It was so that Elrond saw him die, and also saw Isuldir cut the ring from Sauron's finger. He counselled that it should be destroyed, but he was ignored.

Now, he is Lord of Rivendell, a legendary healer and the guardian of a vast amount of Elvish lore. Due to his ancestry, Elrond is known as the Halfelven; for in his bloodline there is a mortal man. As such, Elrond had to choice between a mortal life or that of his elvish ancestry - the immortal life.

Galadriel:

Galadriel

Galadriel is the oldest and wisest of all the Elves that remain now in Middle-earth. She dwells in the fragile Elven paradise of Lothlórien, with her husband, Celeborn. Galadriel is powerful in the ways of "Elvish magic", and possesses great foresight.

Haldir:

Haldir

Haldir is a Lothlórien Wood Elf. In the books, he plays a minor role in escorting the fellowship from the borders of Lothlórien to Caras Galadhon, the home of Lady Galadriel and Lord Celeborn.

In the film adaptation, Haldir plays another role in The Two Towers, leading a contingent of Wood Elves to the aid of the Rohirrim, in remembrance of old alliances.

Legolas:

Legolas

Legolas (meaning Greenleaf in the Elvish tongue) is the son of King Thranduil of Mirkwood. He originally travelled south to Rivendell to warn Elrond that Mirkwood was being overrun by all sorts of evil creatures - Orcs, Wargs, and other forces.

Like his people, he is keen of sight, and an excellent wood's man. He is also superb with his Elvish longbow, and incredibly skilled with his two knives. He pledges himself to the Fellowship, and provides them with many new skills.
