Grado cinco

¡Disfrutan sus  vacaciones!

In fifth grade, we will continue working out of the ¡Hola! text.  We will begin the year with a review of vocabulary, including greetings, responses, asking for basic information like name and age, school supplies and classroom objects, shapes, animals, colors, numbers, foods and places.  We will also devote some time to reviewing basic descriptive sentences and adjective agreement. (i.e. La mesa es rosada.  Los pupitres son amarillos. ) and using the verb "ir" to say where we are going and to ask others where they are going.  We will then pick up with the verb "ir" and learn the full conjugation and use when talking about and to other people.  Overall, the major emphasis will be on basic grammar, primarily AR and ER verb conjugation and using verbs correctly in complete sentences, both in writing and in conversation.

Along with the emphasis on grammar, we will begin to study some of the cultures (history and culture are a large part of the revised curriculum), which overlaps with the Social Studies curriculum, such as the Inca, Maya and Aztec, and how their cultures have influenced both Central and South America, and what these peoples are like today.

*Please be aware that more studying will be required this year.
