Autumn and Winter
Well, we are in hurricane season and only had one big one in our area. The storm's name was Gustavo. We didn't get too much of it but we had to evacuate to Macomb, Mississippi and others went as far as Tennessee. When we returned home most of us had no Major damage to our homes. Everyone lost some shingles off the roof but that is so much easier to take care of as compared to a tree falling on your house and cutting it in two. That happened to many homes. We had no electricity for 2 weeks and we are really spoiled. Everyone was so miserable because it was so HOT. We have had a few cold fronts coming in so this usually keeps storms away from us.
I hope we will have a lovely winter, cold but not bitterly cold. Remember to get your FLU SHOT. Protect yourself before this latest strain shows up. The flu is miserable and it could kill you. So watch the newspaper for the location and dates of the Flu Fair at the various Lady of the Sea Clinics to get your shot quickly. We have already had our fair but there are still so going for the rest of the month. Check the Lady of the Sea Web Pageto find out when.

Evelyn Anselmi and Dr. Walter Birdsall, Jr.

Congratulations Dr. Walter Birdsall, Jr.
Dr. Walter Birdall, Jr. has been recognized by New Orleans Magazine and Best Doctors, Inc., as one of the Top Doctors in the New Orleans area for 2006. As reported in the New Orleans Magazine August 2006 edition, Best Doctors, Inc., a Boston-based company, gathers professional peer ratings on an ongoing basis. These peer ratings are conducted nation wide with, Best Doctors, Inc., interviewing over 30,000 physicians from January through May of each year. Physicians cannot nominate themselves for this distinction, but once they are interviewed, they can nominate other physicians who also must undergo the comprehensive review. Only 14 Family Medicine Physicians were recognized this year. Of those recognized, Dr. Birdsall was the only one in the Bayou Region to receive this honorable distinction. We are very lucky to have Dr. Walter to take care of us.

Dr. Walter Birdsall wanted to help his patients who were having financial difficulties. He knew many of them were living on a fixed income and it just wasn't enough to pay for the medicines they needed to keep them well. He thought about it then he talked to Ms. Evelyn Anselmi. Ms. Anselmi is a retired teacher, Golden Meadow Jr. High. She said she would try and from this was born the volunteer group called P.A.L.S., Prescription Assistance of Lady of the Sea.
He picked the right person. Read the history of P.A.L.S. to find out what happened. This has been very successful so far. We hope you find something interesting in our web page to guide you to volunteer for one of the groups that will be forming or if you need help, please get in touch with us. We will try to help you.
Welcome back Evelyn Anselmi. Ms Anselmi has been ill but she is returning to work in our group at PALS. We missed her dearly and are so happy she is back. We love you Princess Ebby.
