| Welcome to the new home of Lori Land on the
web. I'm still experimenting with webpage building, so here's a start for 2004 with a trip to Ancient Rome! Take a peek at Roman Ruins! for details. Most of these pages were created during my experience living in England from September 2002 to April 2003. I returned to the US and now I'm working in Washington DC. I'm looking forward to sharing the adventures, pictures, and stories online for you all to see. More to come! |

| Some Frequently
Asked Questions: 1. What is BUNAC? BUNAC is a work exchange program for students and recent grads to legally work in the United Kingdom. BUNAC provides a work visa, employment information, and orientation. See www.bunac.org for details. 2. Where will you work? I'll let you know when I know. 3. Where will you live? At first, I'll live with the family of a recent BCAer who came to Bridgewater. They live in a beautiful part of Cheltenham called Leckhampton. A little geography lesson... the UK is an island about the size of California. It's 30 miles north of the coast of France across the English Channel. Cheltenham is 100 miles northwest of London or about 2 - 3 hours by bus. 4. How long will you be gone? Until next April 22... unless I get dubbed into the royal family, become a professional wanderlust, get deported, or otherwise change my mind. 5. Are you scared? excited? nervous? While I know it's a big leap, it's one that I'm looking forward to. I think I'm lucky to have an adventure that most people may dream about but never see happen. Living abroad is a challenge - both for the daily living logistics and the personal emotional changes. But it's a dream I think is worth pursuing. 6. How will you meet people? A wise friend said every friend we have now was once a stranger, so new people are "potential friends". I'm looking forward to hiking with the Ramblers Club again, learning traditional folk dancing with Jean The Lunch Lady, joining an active church community, or singing alto in the choir. I believe the key to living life richly is about building a web of interconnections. 7. How will you keep in touch? Stay tuned to Lori Land for web page updates as I'm able. I'll also send out e-mails to everyone occassionally. As I know my contact information, I'll let you all know. |
