When my great aunt Irene (Wright) Gregrek passed away there were some photos found in her basement. They were in danger of becoming nothing more than damp pieces of paper as the basement was very wet. Luckily they were saved and my aunt Betty (Wright) Gilding saved them. They finally wound up in my hands a couple of years ago and to my delight I discovered a small leather bound photo album with many family photos ... and a group of photos from the 2nd Michigan Cavalry Company F.
The majority of the photos had the names of the men on the back, some in their own hand, some in the hand of the owner of the album, Joel Beeman.
After a little searching, most of the service records were found on the net.
Messages were left on several of the genealogy message boards and a few descendants have contacted me with more information.
