| The find of the summer! ...So today saw me and Lett actually try to achieve employee status. This involved us ringing Maria and little else...but it was a start. We had, after all, spent 5 care-free days in the lap of luxury, being fed and alcoholed, pretty much free of charge. Lady Luck was soon to run out. Today was Theodores birthday! Wehhhhey! An excuse to get rat-arsed! so a trip to Doras and the playgroud (sounds classy) later and we were there! Stumbling our way to Splendid we bumped into the birthday boy himself! It turns out that its not his birthday at all...hehe! Ah well, a lesson learned... not to trust those (slightly) North of Greece! and so, the end of week 1! The next day followed much the same pattern as the latter. Lett rang Maria and then a Doras, schmirrnof playground snide. With one difference... Once back at Pavlakis Mike decided we were guna order a take-away gyros! Failing miserably to notice that they offer a free take-away service, (a saviour to later laziness) we rang the cab company to drive to the gyros shop and then to Stallos (pavlakis) where Mike was waiting to pick it up! ...and who should be in the cab but Eric and wink wink "Felix" aka NYN or New York Nick! cool! Thursday July 1st 2004 Today was basically a slap in the face and Letties first nervous breakdown. Looking back it was pretty justified. 10 days into the holiday we were both suffering from chest infections, caused by leaving air-con on constant, running out of money, caused by alcoholism and taxis, we had had 1 job for 1 night and quit and were facing the prospect of hotel number 4. Yes, youve guessed it. Our luxury days were over...Andonis was chucking us out. Damn. We packed our things and we went to see Maria. Over our time in Crete Maria became our motivator. I looked up to her...( after all, she too had a pair of pink trainers!) I felt that if we let ourselves down by quitting and going home, we were also letting her down . It was a boiling hotday but we had a lot of stuff to do. Maria had scoured the newspapers for us, looking for possible jobs in the area. She lined us up an interview for that afternoon. We made our way downt he biggest fuck off hill in search of the bus-stop. We rested at a local shop to buy refreshments and came across one of our biggest finds of the summer!.....hair grips! For love nor money we had never yet been able to find these little bastards anywhere, and they were a necessity in Lett's survival kit as her blonde mohawk suddenly turned untamable mullet! So onwards and upwards we reached this bus-stop- praying for its arrival of air-conned bliss :) It took a bloody age...There was no shade to hide in and through lack of food and water i was feeling really hot n bothered. ARGUMENT NUMBER 1! the squabble was abruptly ended with the arrival of the bus, and we were both elated. Thank god for the genius who invented these buses, fucking lifesaver! Anyways, as directed we got off of the bus at Aghia Marina and walked about looking for the Epimendis bar. & we walked & we walked & we walked & we looked. It was possibly the most stressful experience of my life to date, owing to the midday sun. In the end we rang Maria and tried to explain where we were. It turned out that we were 5 stops away from where we were supposed to have got off the bus...EFF this. Could this day possibly get any worse?????? bad question.... |
