The original idea for LGR was thought up by president and founder Greg Karpuk in December 1996, but was shelved for several years due to lack of funds. The idea was resurrected in February 2003 when Falling Out was finishing up the recording of their album Shelter. The band didn't have money to put the album out, so Greg stepped in and offered to put up the money to release the album, and then figured it was a great time to actually bring LGR to life, with the help of Falling Out members Mike Resetar and Bill Mullen.
LGR will never be like the "major" labels, where the bean-counters and talentless A & R people (aka Jimmy Wings) care about nothing except making money and will run all over a band, including threats of lawsuits, to tell an artist what they have to do. LGR views the relationship between a band and its label as a partnership, where both sides work together to put out a product that can (hopefully) be profitable while retaining the artists' vision. We will not take a one-size-fits-all approach to our bands, as we realize that each band is unique, with its own strengths and weaknesses.
