Why should I want to hire bands that play songs that no one knows?

There are many talented original bands in this area that play great music but are restricted by a lack of venues to play. These bands generally have a loyal following who can fill a bar. By showcasing original music, your venue has a chance to become known as a place where so-and-so played before they became big, or even as a rock mecca such as The Cavern Club or CBGBs.

There's no money in original bands.

Not true. Many original bands have a loyal following that will go to see them play, and the more their music is exposed, the more their audience grows. Plus, original bands generally work cheaper than cover bands (who tend to play the same, stale songs) becuase they care more about a chance to get their music out than a quick buck.
