Why Should you love Hong Kong? Duh 'cos It's a funki funki funki city. Plus, THE ROLLING STONES WERE RIGHT HERE BEFORE!! RIGHT IN THIS CITY!!! SO WERE REAL MADRID!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways, 2003 was a "bad" year for Hong Kong. Getting hit by SARS, hit the economy real bad, loads of people died, loads of people lost family and friends...but SARS is over now...and we're slowly getting back on our feet again. Everyone in Hong Kong was in the SARS thing together...having to wear masks and all for the whole day, watching the news and seeing that the number of people infected was rising again. It was freaky...but again, it's over...and we do love Hong Kong.

Why else should you Love Hong Kong? Duuuuuuuh because there's so many places to shop, eat la dee dah dee dah. I think there's 2 sides to shopping/eating/music in Hong Kong. There's the surface side and there's the "beneath the surface" side (< So Mrs. Cottam like). The surface side is the "shopping in Festival Walk, canto-pop, etc." side. The beneath the surface side is the "LOOKING for shops, listening to the real local band scene" side. The side that I just found this year. Some people don't love Hong Kong as much as others do probably because they haven't found the "beneath the surface" side yet. You love Hong Kong for that.

THAT'S why you should ALLLL go check my "In Hong Kong" section and "Shop List" section. My mocks come in a week...then they last for about 2 weeks...then there's the Chinese New Year holiday where I can go loving Hong Kong. SO...am waiting for my mocks to be over...waiting waiting waiting waiting. Anyways > am listening to The Ramones now...and I love them...but that doesn't really have anything to do with Hong Kong...only that they're both funki.

Hong Kong's improving. We had our first major rock festival this year - Rockit Festival. International bands (We had the Feelers, Electric Eel Shock, Buddhiston, DJ Marky and other people)...it was loads of fun and I'm really starting to feel Hong Kong's music scene...I mean, the REAL music scene. We also had a lot of big names in Hong Kong this year because of the Harbour Fest. Most importantly, we had the Stones (which I DID watch!!!!) - Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ronnie...all of them in Hong Kong...and I actually SAW THEM!!! We also had Prince, Santana and some other people fly in to perform at the Harbour Fest (I only caught the Stones but that was enough. The BEST ROCK'N'ROLL BAND IN THE WORLD!!!!!!)...so it was a great October this year. We also had REAL MADRID in August. That's one thing I'd never forget. Had to line up and sleep in the streets for a whole day to get tickets...but it was fun, weird. The World's greatest Club in Hong Kong! Robbie Carlos, Ronaldo, Figo, Zizou, Raul, Cambiasso, Helguera, Mcmanaman, Portillo, Pavon, Casillas, Cesar etc ALL in Hong Kong. What was better than having Real in HK and watching them play? Having our own local side score 2 goals!! Even though we lost in the end (4:2), Hong Kong side scored against the greatest club in the world when China wasn't able to and when FC Tokyo wasn't able to...HONG KONG SCORED!! That's another reason why I love Hong Kong. Back to the music scene...it seriously is improving. Starsailor flew in a few weeks back for a concert...I missed it tho...but I still love them. Maksim keeps flying in and I know we have some really good shows lined up for 2004 (everyone check my "Show/Expos" in my "In Hong Kong" section). Hong Kong really is improving....!!
