Hong Kong

Geographical Information

Hong Kong is a small city on the south coast of China (near the Guang Dong province). Hong Kong consists of the Kowloon peninsula, the new territories and a number of islands (Lantau Island, Hong Kong Island and many small islands). Hong Kong's climate is very *tropical* where it is VERY hot in the summer (the temperature can reach up to 33 degrees celsius). It doesn't snow in Hong Kong (which is good in a way and not good in another I guess...) with the lowest temperature being around 9 degrees celsius...so it's not too cold...compared to other places (but it's still COLD!!!! At least I have my Arsenal scarf...).

Brief History

Hong Kong was originally a small fishing village in China. In 1842, Hong Kong was ceded to Britain under the Treaty of Nam King (because China was defeated by Britain in the Opium War). As a colony o Britain, Hong Kong soon transformed from a fishing village to a trading city. In 1997, Britain handed Hong Kong back to China and I will stop here because I actually know nothing about the history of Hong Kong and all I wrote there was dictated to me by my Dad. Just random things

The population in Hong Kong is around 7 million (yes...A LOT OF PEOPLE for such a small place!! HONG KONG IS SOOOO FUNKI!!!!!). Du-uh most of the people here are Chinese...but Hong Kong's an international city and there are loads of people from different ethnicities in HK. That's another reason why Hong Kong is so great...people from different cultures and all that...(and we have loads of cool cultural restaurants!)...uhhh what else? Oh yea, Hong Kong is a great place to shop (I will refrain from saying "Shopping Heaven" because that phrase is just wrong and gross and unfunki...) but I think one of the BIG problems people have with shopping in Hong Kong is...they don't know where to shop...no actually...they don't know that they don't know where to shop (That's why you should check out my shoplist!!)...Okee....I don't have any more info for now and I don't want to go a "research" on Hong Kong. So...when I have nothing else better to do, I will add more stuff...but if you're really DYING to know more about this funki city, just get yourself a Hong Kong tour book or something...!!!!!!
