"Causeway Bay"
Not only is Causeway Bay the most amazin place in Hong Kong for shopping, it's also one of the greatest places to eat. Altogether now, I've had 2 "Eating Trips" held in Causeway Bay and they've been the best 2. Here's a uide to eating in Hong Kong...where to go. I know it's short and all but I will ADD to it over time (people who say that usually don't). Plus, if anyone would like to contribute...just E-mail!
Because I know you won't read EVERYTHING
that's here (because it IS a lot) so for quicker reference:

Pret a Manger (Hysan Avenue) - "It's
so New York!!"
Without a doubt, this is my favourite place in the whole of Hong Kong. The interior of this pl ace is amazing...it's not huge but it's spacey and is very New York. The colour scheme works and sitting there is amazingly comfortable because of the ambience (atmosphere is great). Another thing that's so great about this Pret is that it's not crowded like Starbucks usually is and you can actually get a seat. You actually feel that you're there to eat and not at some marketplace. Let's move onto the food now :D...if it was rated out of 10. It would get 11. All their food is "made fresh in this pret today" and always put quality first. The "Roast Beef Pret Wrap" ($36) is my new love. Their range of drinks is also impressove. The long line of smoothies on the fridge shelf (which I am DETERMINED to try all some day)is made of 100% natural ingredients. I love the "Strawberry and Banana Smoothie" most. The "Pret Cheesecake" is also another thing I HIGHLY recommend. You have to try it to know why I love it so much. Although the food here is a bit pricey, it's worth it...keeping in mind that this is food with "No Nasties".

cheesecake)
Starbucks (1 Hysan Avenue) - For a coffee
after shopping
My second favourite place in Causeway Bay. What makes it even better is that it's only a minute's walk away from Pret a Manger. Plus, after a day's shopping, it's great to prop yourself down for a coffee before heading back to Times Square (which only takes a minute walking) for the MTR. There are a few Starbucks in Causeway Bay...go to the one on Hysan Avenue. Why? Because it's totally independant as a store (not connected to any malls) and has the nicest atmosphere and service (but I will admit, the last
Iced mocha with mint syrup I had was a little weird). Here's a frequently asked question: "Why Starbucks and not Pacific Coffee?"...hmmmm that's easy...BECAUSE PACIFIC COFFEE IS EVIL!! COMPUTERS IN COFFEE SHOPS? Plus, they're soooo trying to be Starbucks. Anyways, not only is Starbucks the best place for coffee in Hong Kong...the range of music and ambience is amazing. They had a recent "Rolling Stones" feature, "Ray Charles" feature and "Tony Bennet" feature. Let's see what PCC comes up with. Also, nothing can beat Starbucks in winter. I had a "Gingerbread Latte" 3 times a week (looking back at my recent Starbuck's receipts: "Gingerbread Latte x1", "Gingerbread Latte x1", "Gingerbread Latte x1", "Gingerbread Latte x1", "Gingerbread Latte x1", etc.) and they have the nicest Christmas carols (Jazzified). No more Gingerbread Lattes now...Christmas season is over :( but everything in Starbucks is always great. Hahaha...nothing greater than sitting at Starbucks after shopping with Kenji!!
(That's yet another "Gingerbread Latte" in the picture)
Ichipan Crepes (5 Cannon St) - "Most
authentic Japanese restaurant in Hong Kong"
"Ichipan Crepes" is located on 5 Cannon Street. It has a wide range of Japanese style French crepes and has been hailed as one of the "most authentic Japanese stores in Hong Kong". I finally got to try this place out this week. Firstly, even though the shop is INCREDIBLY small, the interior is cute and...as expected, very much like a store you would expect to find in Japan...it's hard to imagine that "Ichipan Crepes" was actually started by two guys. Even the business cards have been carefully designed to look Japanesey! Their crepes are split into 3 categories: Cold crepes, hot crepes and savoury crepes. A savoury crepe might not sound too appealing but the "crab salad
/ lettuce / crab roe" crepe looks REALLY nice...plus, what's the point of eating if you won't try new stuff? I had a "Fresh Strawberry / Custard / Whip Cream / Chocolate Sauce" crepe which was niiiiiiiiiice. The crepes are also reasonably priced. They range from $20 to $28 and they're even doing a "buy one get one free" promotion now. The "Tiramisu / Banana / Whip Cream / Corn Flakes" crepe also sounds really nice and everyone should try that! You can check the menu out at www.ichipan.com.
Percival Street - Store after store of
Chinese noodles
Percival Street is opposite the "Lee Theatre Plaza" and has a few nice noodle shops along it. My favourite one is directly opposite the Plaza. I only know the name in Chinese though. These Chinese noodles make a great early dinner and are cheap ($16 for a bowl). I had a bowl of "Fishball noodles" ("Yu Dan Mien"). It's easy to know when noodles are good and when they aren't...and these were good. The soup base was of the right flavour (not overwhelming) and the noodles themselves were "al dente" (although it doesn't sound right using that word to describe Chinese noodles). The fishballs had this great texture and actually had a mouth feel. In other words...it was one of the best bowls of noodles I've had in my life...I'm not exaggerating...I take my food really seriously.
Times Square - Loads and loads and loads and
loads of RESTAURANTS
All the upper floors of Times Square are restuarants...but I can't comment on them because I don't usually eat there (but I will...so I can get more information :D). The lower floor is also flooding with eateries. From
"Haagen Dazs" to Japanese sushi. My favourite eating place in Times Square is, unsurprisingly, "CitySuper!". Everytime I shop in CitySuper!, I end up stocking up on drinks in large amounts. CitySuper! stocks up on food products from Japan and America...things that aren't usually available in Park'n'Shop. I would not mind spending a whole day in CitySuper(am VERY serious). When shopping in CitySuper!, I would recommend you stock up on "Original Flavoured Breadsticks", "Starbuck's Mocha Frappuccino", "Manhattan's Special Mocha", "Mountain Dew", "Natchan Apple Drink" and large amounts of other funki food. There never seems to be enough time or money to spend at CitySuper!! Ooooo..I remember one time when I got a $200 voucher for CitySuper...that must have been one of the greatest days of my life......
Sogo - Japanese product based supermarket
The bottom Supermarket floor of Sogo is another great place for eating. Not only can you shop for Japanese food products here (such as nice cereal and "Aquarius"), there are a few food stalls here. One in particular - "Beard Papa's Pipin' Hot Cream Puffs". These cream puffs are piping hot the outside and filled with cold custard cream and dusted lightly with icing sugar. When you first bite into it, it's a mixture of hot and cold and the effect is amazing. The cream is not too sweet but just enough to make up for the bland taste of the cream puff pastry. Although one puff is $10, the puff is pretty big and so the price isn't totally unreasonable. They're also doing a promotion and introducing 1 new flavour every week...however, I still think the Original flavour is the best and should be the first one you try. Also, "Beard Papa's puffs" are the principal food product of the "Eating Trips".
("Beard Papa's" is shown on the left)
Muji - Any food (compressed to 1/4 it's
size)
Although you don't eat IN Muji, there are a lot of food products on sale here. These range from ready-to-eat products to easy-to-prepare food products. There's a wide variety of candy and chocolates in Muji and savoury snacks as well (such as popcorn, dried vegetables and mushroom). Products such as cake mixes are also available and instant-make products can also be bought (such as instant soup mixes, instant noodles). They are all reasonably priced and anything from Muji can be almost gaurenteed to be good. They even have "Spring Roll" sets and "Pie Crusts" on sale for people who want to cook for themselves in a more convenient way. Muji products are smart :D
