Real Madrid Asia Tour 08/08/03

Still can't believe that the world's greatest club (and my personally favourite...of course, I don't count Beckham as being part of the team) came and played in Hong Kong. You could see how much Hong Kong wanted the match...people were sleeping in the streets lining up for tickets for DAYS! When the arrived, half of Hong Kong went to the airport the hotel. DU-UH...it's Real Madrid!

Anyways, the match itself was amazing. Not only because I got to see it live and got to see some of my favourite people in the world in my own favourite city. Yepp, I saw all of them :D Robbie Carlos, Ronaldo, Figo, Zidane, Morientes, Raul, Solari, Guti, Cambiasso, Mcmanaman, Casillas, Cesar, Helguera, Makelele and on and on...ALL OF THEM! Real Madrid didn't disappoint and had all 6 "aces" (5 for me because I don't consider Beckham one of the "aces") on against Hong Kong. Raul hit one in early but was called offside and so the score was kept 0-0 until Real was awarded a penalty and guess what? Figo scores a beautiful one. Being Zidane, Zizou kept the crowd going "wow" with his twists and swerves past the Hong Kong players.

Ronie that night, looked Catalan again...he honestly did. Receiving the ball at the side and dribbling past 1, 2 defenders and fooling the goalie before sliding it into the corner of the goal as if it was too easy. 2-0. At this point, I'm still trying to get over Ronaldo's amazing goal at the 12th minute and how he appeared Catalan again despite being in a Merengue now...I could have sworn just then, I saw him in red and blue and not white. Enough of that, just when we thought we'd sit back and play with those blow up stick things they handed out, something happens - and it's not what anyone expected...not even the Hong Kong side...THEY SCORE!! I have a clear memory of the moment...Wang heads it in from a corner and the crowd was SO loud (yes they screamed even louder than when Beckham appeared on the big screen). 2-1 flashed on the giant screen as Hong Kong does does something China OR Tokyo FC couldn't do - score against the world's greatest team. What makes it an even bigger deal? When HK scored, ALL the aces were on and playing...something that never happened when Real played either China or Tokyo FC. Ronie scores again at 33 minutes with another beautiful cross shot pass 2 defenders and even though Hong Kong is behind Real Madrid by 2 goals, I don't think ANYONE in the entire stadium DARED to diss the Hong Kong side. Raul (captain) also gives himself a goal as he half shoots half lobs a Robbie Carlos throw in to make the score 4-1. Hong Kong's losing, but everyone's happy with the score...until Li slams one past Casillas to make it 4-2. I don't think I heard anything for the next 10 seconds because the crowd was DEAFENING! Hong Kong didn't just score 1 against Real, against the galacticos, against a strongest club...Hong Kong scored 2!! So proud to be living in Hong Kong. There weren't any goals in the second half and the score was left at that but I don't think ANYONE in the crowd thought Hong Kong lost...because Hong Kong didn't lose (Right: Why I love Ronie)
