Catching the Rolling Stones Live for the first time was a major major major experience...and to make it better...IT WAS ACTUALLY IN HONG KONG!! The Rolling Stones, after several problems with the organisers of the event finally got a date down for a show (two shows in fact) in February 2003 for the "Hong Kong Harbour Fest". I caught the first show on the 7th of November and I actually got my tickets ($588) 4 hours before the show!! AND THEY WERE GREAT SEATS!!! You could see everything clearly and we were right in front of the screen so that was great too. I got there about 1 and a half hours before the Stones came on and got a chance to catch the "Elvis act" which was pretty good (LOVE ELVIS LOVE ELVIS LOVE ELVIS LOVE ELVIS)...and while waiting, I caught some guys singing The Ramones's "I wanna be your boyfriend"...don't know what that was about but it's a great song by a great band. So we sat there in our seats and everyone waited...and waited...and waited...and waited...and the tongue came on the screen...and we waited...and waited...and so we went out for a drink...when people start screaming and someone goes "On the drums...CHARLIE WATTS!". We dashed back to our seats and OHMIGOSH for the very first time in my life...SAW THE ROLLING STONES!!!!!! Charlie Watts (love), Ronnie Wood (love), Keith Richards (love) and Mick Jagger (love) all there!! Charlie had a nice tee on and Ronnie had this stylishly stylish red biker jacket (H.O.T!). Keith in all his stylishness had a purple jacket on and Mick had a tjuszed blue long jacket on. As expected, Mick had a fashion show going and so did Keith while Charlie and Ronnie decided to go simple. The Stones opened the show with one of Mick's favourite and one of my favourites (!!we have something in common!! waahaha), "Brown Sugar" and the whole crowd started singing along to that funki song :D:D it was just great. Then turning on his full charm, Mick turned to the audience and said in Chinese "Ho Hoi Sum" (very happy) and that's what Mick Jagger does - make people fall in love with him. After "Brown Sugar", the Stones kept the crowd going with such numbers as "Start me Up" and "You can't always get what you want". The Stones also did "Gimme Shelter" with Mick and back-up vocalist Lisa Fisher. At this point, even Karen (who I managed to drag along with me...She was too trapped in her taiwanese boy band world and so I decided to EXPOSE HER TO SOME REAL MUSIC - THE ROLLING STONES!!), who had no interest in the Stones whatsoever, was going "wow". Of course, "Street Fighting Man" was played :D and so was another of my favourites "Honky Tonk Woman" during which they showed a manga clip on the giant screen of a woman sprawled and riding on a pair of giant lips (which was not good considering my parents were sitting behind me...oh well). Keith Richards took over vocals at one point and did two numbers - "Slipping away" and "Happy"...at this point, I went out for a coffee and saw Alex from "Garoupa" walk past me :D anyways...after getting a coffee, we dashed back to our seats to watch the amazing Keef, the human riff continue with his number. The Rolling Stones also did their new number "Don't Stop" and Ronnie Wood had a camera attached to his arm and the camera showed his guitar playing on the big screen, replaying the famous scene from The Rolling Stones's "I Love this Game" NBA feature where the camera took Ronnie's guitar playin at that same angle. The audience got their "satisfaction" when The Stones played their "anthem" and the whole crowd was singing along and all...and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" was also done. I love the opening guitar riffs of "Jumpin Jack Flash" so much!! The stones also closed the show with "Jumpin' Jack Flash" as an encore. DU-UH everyone wanted more of the Stones but the show was over :( but it was an amazing show. I love all of them!!!!!! Love them or hate them (LOVE THEM!!!), we all have to admit, it's real impressive that these guys stayed together for 40 years and are still playing at their age. I don't doubt it, these guys are the GREATEST ROCK'N'ROLL BAND IN THE WORLD!! and you know what? I'm married to the Rolling Stones
