Lombok Explorer - 6 Day / 5 Night Tour.

Lombok is a unique and varied island with may remote villages, thick jungle and interesting sights to explore. In this trip we will get away from the usual tourist areas and look for a bit of adventure, travelling by land and sea around most of Lombok, meeting the locals and taking in more of the culture and fantastic scenery that other tours neglect.

DAY 1 - Tetebatu

We’ll pick you up from your morning arrival into Lombok or from your hotel in Senggigi hotel and take of through the capital heading east across the island along the way there are many unusual places we can visit including an old Sasak village with mud houses, and numerous ancient temples. Our destination is Tetebatu, a mountain retreat at the base of Mt Rinjani. In the afternoon you can explore the town and tabacco farms by cidomo, or the forest up the mountain is good for trekking to isolated villages or Jukut Waterfall. Overnight is at Wisma Soedjono, an old colonial house converted to a hotel with a pool and good simple rooms.

DAY 2 - Mt Rinjani

In the morning we head north around Gunung Rinjani, passing Labuan Lombok ( the departure point for boats to Sumbawa) on the way to Senaru. This is a small village with a few simple losmens from where most visitors base themselves in preparation to climb Mt Rinjani ( if you would like to do this , the tour can be extended to allow time for the climb). From our hotel here there are good walks to a couple of large waterfalls and vantage points offering spectacular views to the coast. Overnight in Pondok Senaru or similar (cold water and basic rooms).

DAY 3

Today we complete the circle of the volcano Rinjani and arrive in the morning at Bangsal Harbour in time to catch the public boat to the Gili’s.After covering many miles, these islands are a great place to beach-out or try snorkelling over the colourful coral reefs around these islands. Tonight well stay on Gili Trawangan at the Bukit Indah Hotel.

DAY 4 - Kuta Beach

We catch the morning boat again back to Bangsal Harbour then drive south via the Pusak Pass with great views to the coast, monkeys, and lush vegetation on the way to Kuta Beach. On the way there are many small villages and towns, interesting countryside and plenty to see. The villages here are renowned for their handicrafts, including Lombok pottery and Ikat weaving We’ll stop and have a wander through some of these villages. Don’t be surprised if your followed by a bunch of kids- they still don’t see to many tourists in these villages. In the afternoon we’ll arrive in Kuta Beach and our hotel, Matahari Inn, a great little place with a good restaurant.

DAY 5- Gili Nanggu

The area around Kuta Beach is famous for its great beaches but the farms and villages around here are also interesting and the countryside is really scenic. Many of the locals have seen few tourists and we can spend the morning exploring around here before heading off towards Lembar Harbour around midday. After driving around a bumpy dirt road following the coast, we’ll stop at the tiny village of Taun to rent a local prahu ( fishing boat with sail ) to transfer us to Gili Nanggu. This island is one of the few inhabited in the area, ideal for unwinding after all the travelling, with rustic Bungalows overlooking the water.

DAY 6

After a leisurely morning we will depart Gili Nanggu by motorboat back to Lembar Harbour where you can either connect for the ferry back to Bali, or transfer to your next Lombok hotel.
