Mt.Rinjani Trekking 4d/3night
DAY 1
Drive to the small village of
Senaru on the north face of Mt Rinjani . Your hotel here is Pondok Senaru (or
similar) with basic rooms and a good restaurant. It is best to climb early
before it gets too hot, so this afternoon is free to explore the valleys or
waterfalls nearby, or simply relax ready for the climb.
DAY 2
After registering at the ranger’s station, we start the climb early heading for base camp III, located at 2100m. The climb takes about 5 hours through the forest that thins out as you get higher. This is our base for the night on a makeshift bamboo platform. We can relax here in the afternoon in preparation for the climb to the lake and the sunrise early
the next day.
Day 3
Set off early (bring a torch) to
reach the crater rim before sunrise to witness the amazing scenery of the lake
and volcanic peaks as the sun breaks through the clouds.
From the crater rim we then
descend to Lake Segara Anak (this takes anywhere from 2 to 6 hours) where we can
find good camping ground on the lakes edge. There are hot Springs nearby or you
may even want to try a touch of fishing in the lake. We overnight at the base of
the Lake.
DAY 4
Depart early for the climb back
to the crater rim before it gets too hot, then its all down hill back to Senaru.
This takes most of the day. We then depart by car back to civilization.
NOTE: Longer treks can be
arranged if you wish to spend more time around the lake, or to climb to the
actual peak of Rinjani
