For those wanting to become a manager or a talent scout
My best advice to you is to go to college and major in public relations.  Majoring in public relations will give you the text book skills you need for these fields.  To get a true grasp, I advise you to intern at company that mirrors the type of company you wish to work for in the industry.  An internship will give you a wealth of information and provide you with an abundant amount of contacts in the field that you want work in!  Good luck.

Entertainer/unusual talent
Being an entertainer/person with an unusual talent is probably the easiest industry to break into entertainer in the context in which I used it in the above.  To be an entertainer, you should perfect your craft then hire a professional videographer to record your performance that will be your demonstration tape.  You can start your own entertainment company in which you self promote.  On the other hand, if you are just starting out and you want to work for someone else, you can grab your local yellow pages and ask to submit your tape to companies that interest you.  Keep in mind some companies do not accept unsolicited mail.

Musicians and backup singers
These fields are similar to break into.  They are both highly competitive as well.  The easiest way to get exposure, is to keep your eyes peeled for open calls on the internet and your local newspaper.  Sometimes artists or record companies advertise for replacement musicians or backup singers.  So you have to be ready when they have an open call, but open calls dont happen that often and you may not hear about it in time.  What that means is that you have to self promote or inquire about an A&R company (A&R means Artist and Repertoire).  An A&R company will help sharpen your talent and help you shop your demo.  How?  Record companies will sometimes go to an A&R company and ask about an artist who may fit their criterion.  If you match what that company is looking for, then you are one step closer to engaging in that field.

Bodyguard
Being a celebrity bodyguard is a field that requires lots of physical and mental training.  My best advice for you is to be trained (black belt status) in more than one martial art and learn defensive training and stress management.  Also, you may want to check on the web to see if they have any certification courses you can take and look for intern opportunities in security.  To market yourself in the entertainment industry you have to get with a company that specifically hires bodyguards for their celebrity clients.

Singer/lyricist
Finally, being a singer or a lyricist is one of the hardest fields to break into.  It is totally competitive.  It doesnt solely rely on your skills, but your image is extremely important and so is your level of originality.  There are literally hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people just like you who want to be a super star.  What sets you aside from them?  What makes you so different?  Those are questions you need to ask yourself when thinking about a career as a singer or lyricist.  There is an advantage to becoming a singer versus a lyricist in that its less likely to cause a fatal rift between you and a competitor.  Also, there is a larger market for singers thats good news for you because that means there are more record companies willing to work with you!  There are other benefits as well as negatives, but if you do your own research you will find out.
For either field, you need to save some money and create a demo by going into the studio with your original work (includes lyrics and instru- mentals/beats).  The best course of action for a lyricist is to sale as many of his or her CDs (demos) as possible to the free world.  Make sure you keep a written record of the amount of units (CDs) you sell.  This may work for singers to but is not a typical course of action. Why sale your demo?  I will get to that in just a moment.
