Welcome to the Legacy of Kain: Dark Awakening. To explain what this site actually is, this is a Roleplaying Game (or RPG for short) based upon the infamous video game series of the same name. Roleplaying, for those who do not yet know what it is in this context, is where someone plays the role of a character in a defined universe and acts out his or her life, partaking in the story as a whole. It is similar to acting, with the players being the actors controlling the characters and the GamesMasters (GMs for short) taking on the role of the directors.

The setting for this RPG was inspired by the opening sequence in Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. Upon seeing the Clan Lieutenants and Kain, and hearing of Raziel speak of how Kain had taken control of Nosgoth in a millennium since we last saw him, the founders of this site were left to wonder, "How did Kain conquer Nosgoth? What part did his Vampyric sons play? Did anyone try to oppose them?" And so Dark Awakening was born.

The RPG is set nine hundred years before the opening events in Soul Reaver, when Kain had raised his Lieutenants and their Clans and had begun his campaign anew to take Nosgoth. This RPG tells the tale of that war, pitting the Vampire Lieutenants against their adversaries, the Lords of Humanity, with the soldiers of each Vampire Clan and Human faction caught in the middle.
