My  research also covers the application part of the actuator. We have managed to develop a new SMA-based actuator to be applied as artificial muscles in the prosthetic hand. At present, the newly developed SMA actuators are being used to actuate a wrist joint of the robotic hand, which we believe will lead to high-torque actuation compared to conventional actuators such as servo-motors, pneumatic actuators et.cetera.
Prosthetic hand developed in our laboratory with 13 DOFs.
