W. Bro. Vengalil Koshy Chacko was born as the second son of Philipose Koshy of Mullamangalathu family, Maramon on 29th August 1908. He has completed 96 years of age and looks forward to hitting the century on 29th August 2008. At the ripe old age of 97 W. Bro. V.K. Chacko continues to attend the regular and committee meetings of all the craft lodges and side degrees without fail and ventures to climb the winding stair case with minimum support. We all pray fervently to the GAOTU to give him continued good health and courage to withstand the wageries of life so that he will live beyond the centennial as the most respected and vigilant mason among the Minchinites, ever to guide and instruct them in masonry.
  Mr. V.K. Chacko had his schooling at Maramon and Kozhencherry; and his collegiate education in the St. Berchman's College, Changanasserry and Science College, Trivandrum. He received his Bachelor degree from the University of Madras in 1929. He was appointed an Assistant in the Government Secretariat, Trivandrum in 1931. During his servicce in the Secretariat, he had received encomiums from the Dewan, Sir C.P. Ramaswamy Aiyer for his hard and meritorious work. He was promoted Magistrate in 1946. Since then he held various high level offices, such as the Tahsildar, First Class Magistrate, Deputy Collector, Oodukur (undivided family) Settlement Officer with special powers of District Magistrate, Administrative Officer etc. He was the First Private Secretary to the First Chief Minister of Kerala, Late E.M.S. Namboothiripad. He retired from government service in 1963, on completing the age of 55.
  He is one of the most senior and active members of both Y.M.C.A, Trivandrum and Senior Citizens Association, Trivandrum. He is a founder member of the Rotary Club of Trivandrum North.
  W. Bro. V.K. Chacko was initiated into Freemasonry at Lodge Quilon No. 5839. E.C. on 12th March 1963, just before he retired from Government service. He joined Lodge Minchin No. 2710 E.C. on October 5, 1963 and went to the Eastern Chair  in March 1975.  He was conferred District Grand Lodge distinctions from time to time, resting now with the coveted rank of Past Senior Grand Warden, since 1990.
  He is active in all the side degrees and has been thrice the First Principal of the Holy Royal Arch Chapter Minchin (1978, 1981 and 1993) and holds the rank of  Past District Grand Scribe Nehemeah. He was installed the Worshipful  Master of Lodge Sivagnanam of Mark Master Master Masons No. 877 E.C. in 1978. He is a Past District Grand Senior Warden in the District of Madras. He ruled the  Sivagnanam Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No. 877 E.C. as its Worshipful Commander  in 2001 (at the age of 93 !). He became the Supreme Ruler of the Trivandrum Conclave No. 127, in 1980 and is presently a Past District Grand Counsellor and Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies    in the order.
  This veteran Mason had been the Preceptor of the Minchin Lodge of Instruction for many years continuously. His other contributions include  Masonic articles titled The Seven Steps in Masonry, Our Antiquity, Relevance of Freemasonry to Religion, Freemasonry and the Bible and many other articles he is now giving the final touch.
