THE TWENTIETH CENTURY WORLD
Year 9
Year 9 follows a varied programme linked to the causes, changes and consequences of war. We start with reasons
why the Great War happened, the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, reactions in Britain and the horrors
of trench warfare. You will get an opportunity to research and construct an in-depth Enquiry into a theme of your
choice eg the technology (weapons) of war; the role of women; imagery of warfare (art and poetry) as well as the
importance of the war at sea and in the air. Marks for this Enquiry will count towards your history SATs.
