 Flash FrequencyDetector
                       Locomotive

History

For the last 50 years model railway hobbyists have devised many
methods for locomotive position detection.
Common Detection Methods

  1. Series relay - a relay is connected between the power source

  2. and the locomotive electric motor, within an isolated block.
As the locomotive moves into this block -- the relay operates.
  3. Track switch - a small switch is positioned such that the weight of the train will operate the mechanical switch.
  4. Magnetic reed switch - a reed switch is positioned within the

  5. ballast of the railway track. A powerful magnet is positioned on the locomotive, as the locomotive passes the reed switch it
    operates the switch contact.
  6. Current sensing - detection of the locomotives electric motor current.
  7. Opto Electronics - three basic methods :- Photo diode/transistor -- IR-LED --  Laser.

FLASH FREQUENCY DETECTION

LocoTronics patented new concept -

A electronic system that detects, by means of a high frequency the
electric motor of the locomotive.

INFRA RED DETECTION

LocoTronics offers a IR Detection option on all products
