TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Lesley Lockery, has been teaching TAP DANCING in N.Y.C. for twenty years with the AMERICAN DANCE MACHINE and with STEPS STUDIOS. As a guest artist instructor she has taught in prestigious dance academies in Europe, Japan and throughout the U.S.
DEFINITION OF STYLE
TAP with Theatre Dance Movement. A unique and free sprited combination.
The Tap Class has a very clear and strong technique with a unique style that varies from jazz to Broadway Musicals to Movie Musicals / Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, and Eleanor Powell, etc.
APPROACH TO CLASS
- TECHNIQUE OF THE FOOTWORK
- Emphasis is on the articulation of sounds.
- Including how to "Tone and Color" the Taps.
- RHYTHM
- In each class level the emphasis is on working with various rhythms progressing to the advanced level with very intricate rhythmic footwork.
- BODY TECHNIQUE
- How to use the body in connection with the footwork, and most importantly, how to use the floor in connection with the body and footwork.
- Also, working with various types of music and learning and performing the steps and styles needed for Tap Auditions.
STUDENTS TO GAIN FROM CLASS
Besides learning the technique and being ready to perform and audition, I would like my students to gain a clear understanding of the ART OF TAP DANCE. The freedom and JOY OF TAP DANCE - To LOVE it with PASSION.
