Cassie and Andrew were devastated by the death of their baby.

Dorian crashed a party that Viki and Sloan threw at Llanfair. Intent on causing a scene, Dorian threw her drink in Sloan�s face. Horrified by the spectacle, Cassie ordered Dorian out of the house and her life for good. Desperate to the rumors from escalating, Dorian lured Viki into Victor Lord�s secret room at Llanfair. Once inside, Dorian bolted the door behind them, vowing to keep Viki prisoner until she promised to stop Sloan from publishing the book. However, the scheme went awry when, in a struggle with Viki, the key to the door fell down an air vent. In a night to end all nights, tempers flared over past jealousies, betrayals and deceptions. With time and oxygen running out, Viki dared to get to the source of their conflict. Viki challenged Dorian to the truth: Did she marry Victor Lord only for his money? Did she kill him? While Dorian was on the war path, everyone�particularly Andrew�attempted to shield Cassie from the tensions. When Cassie later came across a police report stating that it was Dorian who had been responsible for the bogus sexual harassment charges levied at Sloan. Seeing red and angrily confronting Dorian, Cassie went into premature labor. Little William Carpenter III lived only a few hours before dying. The terrible loss drove Cassie�s normally placid husband Andrew to lash out at Dorian, nearly strangling her to death!

Marty showed up at Kevin�s fraternity�s annual �Spring Fling� dance, determined to have a good time. Also in attendance was Kevin�s fraternity brother, Llanview University star football player Todd Manning. A very complicated and brooding young man, Todd had a score to settle with Marty, who not only had recently tutored him�but whom he had recently slept with. After their night of sex, Todd callously rejected Marty�s lonely pleas to stay and keep her company. Despite feeling slighted, Marty continued to tutor Todd. When he later failed an examine that resulted in his being cut from the team, Todd was convinced that Marty had deliberately sabotaged him and swore revenge.

The night of the spring fling, Kevin carried Marty up the stairs to his room to sleep off her drunken binge. Meanwhile, downstairs at the party, Todd Manning motioned to his other two frat buddies: Powell Lord and Zach Rosen to follow him upstairs. The crowd�s loud and raucous noise prevented anyone from hearing Marty�s screams as she was brutally raped by Todd, then Zach, and lastly a reluctant Powell. Kevin sat on the porch of the frat house, oblivious to the barbarous act taking place in his own bed. Later, he found Marty in a state of shock. Confusing Kevin with the others, a terrified Marty scratched his face with the ring.
