Llan Rads 2 Wellfield
2
The Rads started the brighter of the two teams and their slick passing
caused many problems for the overworked Wellfield defence. The opening
goal came after some neat play and was scored by James Ellis with
a 25 yard effort. Wellfied stuck back from a rare attack which caught
out a hesitant Rads defence to score. The goal injected some life
into the visitors who were now causing problems themselves, the match
was evenly balanced with both teams striving for the lead. It was
Midfielder Andrew Stevenson who restored the Rads lead and sent the
home team in at half time with a 2-1 advantage. The second half started
as the first ended but Wellfield began to create the better chances.
Eventually their efforts paid off with a goal, it was now all Wellfield
who looked the likelier to score but Ross Robinson kept them at bay
with a string of saves.
Penllergaer 3 Llan
Rads 6
The Rads secured their fourth straight win of the season by hitting
Penllergaer for six. This win lifted the Rads up to sixth place in
the Second division. An impressive first half ended with the Rads
leading 4-1 with goals coming from Lee Robinson, Chris lewis, Carl
Bibby and Andrew Stephenson. The second half did not live up to the
first due to some poor play by the Rads and a much better performance
from Penllergaer. But it was Liam Bennett on for the injured Huw Williams
who scored both second half goals for the Rads.
Llan Rads 4 Ponthenri
1
The best so far this season, this was an excellent display by the
Rads team to register their biggest win so far this season. It was
the Rads who settled first with their slike passing which gave ponthenri
so many problems to deal with. But against the run of play Ponthenri
took the lead, this lead lasted five minutes before Huw Williams scored
the equaliser. With ten minutes to go before the break Carl Bibby
scored from an indirect free kick which resulted from ill discipline
in the Ponthenri ranks. The second half started much better for Ponthenri
who began to ask questions of a young Rads team. But the Rads replied
strongly and eventually began to take control with goals coming fom
Robert Thomas and Lee Robinson.
Trimsaran 1 Llan
Rads 2
Jubilant Rads team ended
Trimsarans 100% start to the season. It was Trimsaran who had the
best of the early exchanges and settled down much better than the
Rads team who were struggling with the early pace and were giving
the ball away far to easily. However, the Rads defence limited the
Trimsaran attack to long range efforts, but from a Rads corner Trimsaran
broke quickly to score mid way through the half. Towards the later
part of the half there were signs of the Rads getting to grip with
the Trimsaran team and were now beginning to pass the ball much better
and caused some panic in the home defence. The half ended with Trimsaran
deservably in front 1-0. The Rads made positional changes to the line
up moving Oliver Jenkins out to the left and brought Chris Lewis into
the centre. The second half was all Rads, who laid siege on the Trimsaran
goal, chances came and went but the Rads were now the dominant team.
Carl Bibby and Lee Robinson came off the bench to add more attacking
options which eventually paid off. Both players were involved in the
opening goal which Huw Williams fired into the net. Shortly after
a long ball sent Huw away to score his second. With time running out
David Vine substituted man of the match Huw Williams. The Rads saw
out the closing minutes to register back to back wins.
Abergwili 1 Llan
Rads 3
The Rads bounced back from Saturday's disappointing defeat against
Loughor with a well-deserved victory at Abergwili. Abergwili had taken
a twenty minute lead resulting from a long throw which Darren Clark
directed a header beyond the Rads keeper into his own net. Despite
this set back the Rads continued to play the better football and created
a number of good opportunities which eventually was rewarded with
a goal fom Robert Thomas to make the score 1-1 at the interval. A
goal for the Rads in the first 5 minutes of the second half by Huw
Williams from a Nathan Banfield pass which split the Abergwili defence
put the Rads ahead. The Rads continued to play the better football
and created a number of chances including two goals not given for
offside. Eventually the pressure paid off and with 20 minutes to go
Keith Owen sealed a comfortable win to score after some neat play.
This was a much improved performance and important for the club to
get the Loughor performance out of the system.
Llan Rads 0 Loughor
5
Loughor on the day were
far too strong for an inexperienced Rads team stripped of so many
players through suspensions and injuries. Rads, 16 year olds Nathan
Banfield and Ted Curry were given their League debuts, there was also
a league debut for Gareth Thomas. Loughor dominated the match from
start to finnish and deserved all 3 points. The only Rads players
who can take some credit from this match were Chris Lewis and Nathan
Banfield who battled bravely throughout. Loughor are an experienced
well organised outfit strong at the back quick in midfield with a
potent attack. Rads must now pick themselves up for a difficult away
match on Tuesday night at Abergwili.
