Petersen Family

Meet the Petersens. We are Debbie, Leslie (Pete), Saxon, Savannah, and Vanessa. We come from vibrant pioneer ancestry, which we're very proud of. Being direct descendants of John Taylor (third president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) and other great pioneers, many of our great-grandparents crossed the plains from Nauvoo, Illinois to Salt Lake City, Utah as children and adults to escape religious persecution.

Many of our pioneer ancestors came directly from Nauvoo to Salt Lake City pushing handcarts and driving ox teams. Others came by train after the "golden spike" joined the coasts with the first coast-to-coast rail line. This being true, and after several visits to modern Nauvoo, Nauvoo has become our family favorite place to visit. We own a lot 1/2 mile south of the city proper (still within city limits) on the Mississippi. It's a wooded hillside that will eventually accommodate a small house.
