The Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP) of the Office of Student Affairs provides assistance to students in developing academic skills, setting career goals, managing healthy relationships, coping with problems, dealing with adjustment difficulties and other developmental issues they are faced with. All these are carried out in a friendly, relaxed, and confidential manner. The Guidance and Counseling Program is an offshoot of the autonomous nature of UP Manila. Prior to 1984, UP Manila students sought assistance from UP Diliman. In 1985 however, the Guidance and Counseling Program was formed with Dr. Letty G. Kuan as the University Guidance Counselor (UGC). It was in 1987 through Administrative Order No. 87-30 series of 1987, with the institutionalization of the Organizational Structures and Staffing Patterns of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), UP Manila that the Guidance and Counseling program was formally organized. |
