The Internet is a WONDERFUL place to learn more about everything�but BE CAREFUL�anyone in the world can post a website. Sometimes you'll find TOO MANY web sites and a lot of the information you'll see is not good. Here are some places kids can go to help them find the best websites. Remember your parent or another adult should ALWAYS know when you are using the Internet! The Internet Public is a site, posted by the University of Michigan, Click on the Kids Space on their home page. You can search the Kids Space to get some really wonderful web sites on all sorts of topics. Kids Click! is posted by librarians and offers links to sites about everything. Every month it has a new list of web sites that are great to check out. Kacey's Web is the site for children maintained by the Minuteman Library Network, to which Robbins Library belongs. It contains some excellent links on a range of topics. Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators Kathy Schrock is an expert in finding great websites and she's also a teacher. Her site includes information for teachers, parents and children as well as hundreds of excellent links. It is updated often to include the best sites for teaching and learning. 700+ Great Websites for Children The American Library Association posts this site for family learning. You'll be amazed at all the great sites you'll see here. Days at Frog and Toad Road is a site posted by Lanise Jacoby of the Peirce School that has great projects that match the second grade curriculum and lots of terrific links for further learning and fun. Window to Our World is a second site Ms. Jacoby created that features the most recent work and projects of her second grade. Yahooligans is a web guide for kids. It has all sorts of great links, plus jokes, great reference sources (dictionaries, encyclopedias, atlases and more), great games and all sorts of ever-changing fun. |
