My mother loves hummingbirds, so I began this painting as a gift for her for Christmas in 2003. Unfortunately I was having difficulty with it, so it had been put away until I could come back to it. I finally completed it for her, albeit 3 years later, and was able to surprise her for Christmas. I'm some what glad that I had waited to finish it, because the final painting had turned out so much better than how I had started it, and I am very pleased with it.
