Ink on paper

A new painting style that I fell in love with is the Japanese technique of ink and water painting called sumi-e. It is similar to watercolor except for typically using only black ink. The style is also highly compared to the calligraphy discipline, in which single brush strokes create the simple picture. Generally nature images are depicted in sumi-e, like flowers, birds and trees, but also still-lifes and landscapes are popular.
