01/29/1980 THE LIZARD time:08:06hours
Dr. Caranius and Dr. Hyman watched as the Lizard matured with unbelieveble speed.  Several times throughout the night the Lizard shed its skin as it grew with no sign of stopping.  The Lizard discovered new abilities as it developed learning first to run and walk on all four limbs, he learned to climb and jump and by the morning the most astounding of developments; the Lizard stood erect on its hind legs.  The fallowing day proved to be most interesting as the Lizard began to act more human than reptile using its hands to catch prey, though he still seamed to prefer his tongue.   Several times the Lizard would stare back at the doctors as they watched his progress, it was evident that the Lizard recognized their presance, and did not appear intimidated.
Soon the Lizard was a full six foot tall from head to foot with an extra four feet of tail running down his back.  The Lizard's body had grown massive with muscle and it was obvious that he was adopting concious thought.  The Lizard had recognized the window and two doors as exits sniffing around the perimiters of the portals.  When it became apparent that the Lizard would find no exit he walked casualy to the center of the incubation chamber and sat crosslegged facing the window.  The Lizard stared maliciously at the doctors in the observation room, filicking his tongue amidst his jagged razorsharp teeth.
"I think he wants out....." Dr. Hyman said as she watched the Lizard sit patiently.  Dr. Caranius crossed his arms and cocked his head as he watched his experiment grow.
"It is time to test vocal chords, hopefully he can speak."   Dr. Caranius punched a button on the side of the window and spoke into an intercom.
"Good morning."  The doctor's voice gently entered the incubation chamber and the Lizard focused his gaze on Dr. Caranius.
"He knows it is me speaking."  Caranius said releasing the button, he depressed the button again, "Hello."
The Lizard grinned a toothy smile and repeated Caranius' words, "Good Morning, Hello."  then closed his eyes and flicked his tongue several times.
Dr. Hyman jummped back as the Lizard's words echoed into the room.  Still stunned she slowly approached the glass and eagarly beckoned Dr. Caranius to continue.
"Lizard," Dr. Caranius said the Lizard paid no attention, "Lizard?"  he tried again, still no response, "Lizard?"
This time the Lizard began to hiss loudly and cracked his eyes open "WHAT?!?"
Dr. Caranius stood baffled as the Lizard glowered dubiously at his captors.  The Lizard waited several seconds for a response then stood and apporoached the glass barrier.  Dr. Hyman backed away in fear as the scaled creature stood face to face with Dr. Caranius who was too stunned to respond.
The Lizard smiled pompusly as he sensed the doctors' fear, and began clawing the class with his talon like fingers, and said "BOO!"
Dr. Caranius fell to the ground in absolute terror as the Lizard let loose a blood chilling cackle, and walked lazily to the middle of the incubation chamber and lay down looking very relaxed.
Once Dr. Caranius regained his composure he stood and chuckled with pride, "He thinks! He speaks! He is ready for training!"
01/30/1980 TRAINING time:05:20hours
The Lizard was awoken the next day to find several new faces looking back from the observation room.  Two high ranking officers accompanied Dr. Hyman who was presenting the project.  The Lizard watched casually as Dr. Hyman talked with the officers then punched the intercom, "Good morning," she spoke excitedly.  The Lizard gave no response but yawned and picked at his teeth.  "Good morning," she tried again, the Lizard looked at her for a moment then shrugged and began to stretch his legs and tail.  The officers seamed interested but unimpressed.  Desperate to gain te officers approval Dr. Hyman began rushing about the observation room punching buttons and talking into a walkie talkie.  The officers stood looking at the Lizard who noticed the commotion of Dr. Hyman and stood tall crossing his arms in a stubborn protest.  The Lizard gave the officers a look of pity as he smiled confidently.
Suddenly one of the doors began to open slowly and the lizard tutned curiously approaching the newly opened portal.  He looked back into the observation room nodding at the onlookers before he steped through the exit.
The Lizard walked tall into the new room a large area made of steel walls and floors that clicked under as his claws scraped against the metalic floor.  the observaion room continued along the celing of this room and the Lizard could see the officers and Dr. Hyman looking down upon him.  He looked back at the three humans for a moment then looked around the room again flicking his tongue and slowly twitching his tail.
The room began to moan and hum suddenly and the Lizard jumped onto one of the walls sinking his claws into the thick steel.  He hung to the wall as the room began to change, several ropes fell from the celing, pillars and walls rose from the ground, along with several odd looking contraptions that moved together in an odd and staggered motion.  The room stopped changing and what was obviously an obstical course now filled the area.
The Lizard slowly climbed down from the wall and stood at what appeared to be the begining of the course and looked up at his captives with disdain.
"Begin!" Dr. Hyman's voice echoed over the intercom, the Lizard did not repsond.
After a moment of standoff a door opened behind the Lizard and eight heavily armored soldiers rushedinto the room carying flamethrowers.  The Lizard turned slowly as the soldiers made a semicircle around him.  He glared thretenigly at the fire weilding oppressors and looked up at the observaion room again, then shrugged and reluctantly turned towards the obstical course.
"Begin!" Dr. Hyman's voice eched again and the Lizard complied.
The Lizard dove into the obsticals with blinding speed and masterfull agility.  He jumped over obsticals moving uninhibited from two legs to all fours.  All of his limbs went to work his arms, legs, and tail all working together to propell him through the obsticals.  The Lizard sped through the fist half with ease and it looked as if he would finish the couse without interuption but he suddenly deviated before the last leg of the course.  Swinging from a rope he double fliped and sprung from the top of an obstical and went flying towards the observation room, where just as he had predicted the glass was not as thick.
11/30/1980 THE EXCAPE time:05:43hours
The Lizard flew towards the glass of the observation room headfirst and just before he impacted with the glass swung his feet out to impact with his heals.  The glass shattered in every direction as the Lizard landed on all fours in the room.  The officers and Dr. Hyman lay covered in glass Dr. Hyman unconcious on of the officers dead.  The other officer fumbled to pull a pistol from his holster but could not gain his composure before the Lizard had overtaken him.  The Lizard grabbed the officer around the neck and lifted his body into the air.  The Lizard squeezed the frail huiman's neck as he frantically struggled before his neck snapped and went limp.
