3-week series, Sunday nights - 3/25, 4/1, 4/8, from 6 to 7:15 pm
Studying movement for tango is only as useful if it is practiced regularly. Psychologists say that it takes trying something 3 times before it becomes a habit. Let's build a regular movement practice to create a body that dances with grace and ease. Coincidentally, it will also be a healthier body with a longer, more mobile spine, pain-free joints, healthy low back and neck, and a relaxed mood. It's a lovely way to end the weekend, promote restful sleep for the coming week, and get the body prepared for hours of upcoming milongas and classes.
Join us for 3 sunday nights for a yoga-based practice, with some useful solvents from body release techniques such as Feldenkrais, Alexander, and a bit of Michail Chekhov acting. Each week will explore a different topic. The practice is geared specifically for tango, and will include some basic tango movements (walking, ocho's, turns) to integrate what was learnt. This workshop is open to all levels - if you can walk, you can participate!
Some of the topics we'll explore are:
Balance, posture
Comfort and clarity in the embrace
Easing pivots and turns
Mindfulness and attention in the dance
Adjusting to different dance partners
