Being a military outpost, Tarsier has a larger than
normal Militia, and the Town Guard works with the local military forces to
provide security for the citizens of the city against Ss'ressen raids and
criminals who would threaten them. Below are the statistics for the Militia and
Town Guard of Tarsier:
Town
Guard:
47 Constables (Chainshirt,
Chainmail or Breastplate; Longsword, or Crossbow) 6 Captains (Chainmail or Breastplate; Bastardsword) 2 Lieutenants (Breastplate or Leather
Armor; Greatsword or Quarterstaff) 1
Adjutant General (Breastplate; Trillion Hammer)
Militia:
5
Platoons (100 men each)
This force has with the ability to grow in size to 800 conscripts in
time of war. However, being a military town, the local military adds an
estimated 1100 to the conscript total, bringing the overall total to an
estimated 1900 conscripts in time of war.
There is also a force of 5
platoons, each consisting of 100 men. They are used for guard duty and
patroling the surrounding area of Tarsier. This multi-national force comprises
the main defense for the city.
The rotation order for these
four platoons is based on a 90-30 rotation where at least three platoons are on
active duty while the fourth platoon is engaged in a cool down period after
being on the defensive for 90 days. Every ninety days a platoon is pulled off
the defensive lines and placed on this cool down mode. At the end of the thirty
days they return to active duty. Below is the garrison duty rotations while the
platoons are stationed at Tarsier for the 90 day period. The two hour watches
represents the "dog watch" which is used to keep rotating the men on garrison
duty so that they will not constantly have the same watch.
0000 - 0400 0400 - 0800 0800
- 1200 1200 - 1600 1600 - 1800 1800 - 2000 2000 -
2400
There are groups of three men and four groups of four men constantly
being rotated on garrison duty. This number come from the platoon size, which
is estimated at 100 men and an estimated garrison personell of 25. These 25 men
switch off with another group of 25 men so that everyone has a chance to enjoy
the delights of Tarsier.
