Having survived my first two years at University, I am now spending a brilliant year abroad at Halle University. For those of you who dont know where Halle is...its in East Germany, south of Berlin, and West of Leipzig. (You see I could do a degree in colouring in with such in depth geographical knowlegde)

I am on of two English people here, and as normal in Modern Language degrees male students are in the minority. So as one would expect I am having an absolutely brilliant time, I have got to know loads of different people, sampled different cultures and I look forward to visiting my friends in their respective countries.
In terms of academtic progress (keeping the parents happy you see!), I have been visiting some rather hard and rather boring lectures...but I am doing theater studies which is fantastic as it involves me going to the theater twice a month.

At Newcastle Universtiy I'm studying German, Dutcb and Politics. German is great, and I get on well with the people on my course, and Dutch also has its advantages....such as a) I am the only male on my course....b) it means that I have an excuse to go to Amsterdam for educational purposes!

Fortunatly there is a climbing wall in Halle...although there isnt room to swing a cat, it does mean that I can continue my hobby
