If you look at the lady dancing above you'll get the
idea of what it feels like to paint if you're me.
I don't plan much, and when doing murals, I don't draw
anything on the wall ahead of time. I just pick up my
brush loaded with 'sky' usually, and start painting.
When I feel good with my sky, I usually mix up a batch
of 'shadow'. For this, I use black, cobalt blue and burnt umber.
From there, I usually start high in the sky with some hills or
mountains. The mural comes forward and down from there. I don't try for
perfection or reality. I just want to convey what I am thinking of. I think
I'm probably a lazy artist, and stubborn too. When painting,
my philosophy is often 'do what you want, and don't worry if it's right!
I love the freedom of painting with a child's approach, and even though this
sometimes gives me some silly results, it's worth the process I experienced.
