These are some of my favorite trains.
Some are favored because they are rare, some unusual, some took a long time to
find, and some I just plain like.
This is one o the more desirable piece of rolling stock that I have. The number of the car is 6464-100, commonly referred to as the '100 Orange'. The car that normally has this number is silver with a gold feather. The orange version should have the number 6464-250. I was lucky enough to get it in a collection of trains I purchased.
I think that this is the nicest looking steam engine I have. It is also one of the strongest. It uses liquid smoke instead of the old pellets that most of us baby boomers remember.
This boxcar is from the 9-1/4" series. It is one of the three most difficult to find. It took me over three years to locate one that was in the condition that I prefer.
![]() This boxcar is quite unusual. The red band is supposed to contain white lettering - obviously, it doesn't. It seems that there are two schools of thought regarding this car. One is that it is a factory error, the other is that it is a fake; i.e., the lettering intentionally removed. I have had many very knowledgeable people examine the car, while most think that it is a legitimate factory error, some have their doubts. If I ever can get it authenticated, it would become the most valuable car in my collection. Until then, it is a nice conversation piece. |
