May is really something else in Indianapolis! The big Indy500 sets the town to roaring! We had alot of rain though, so it was worrisome too. The race was on the right day, but they had a rain delay and I'm sure it makes those drivers nuts to have to go through that every year... wonder why they gotta have it in May anyways...You'd think another month would be a bit safer from the weather... Oh well, we didn't get to see it on TV until later on in the evening... guess they figured if we wanted to watch it we needed to go get tickets... but Danny can't stand all the noise.. so we just wait till it comes on later and watch it. Danny learned the name of the winner... at first he just wanted to say 'Latoya' cause that was already in his talker... but when we told him to spell Mon-toy-a he liked it because it has 'toy' in it! Actually we watched the Nascar race that afternoon... We went to www.tbssuperstation.com and were trying to get the onboard cameras to work... had Bobby Labonte's tuned in pretty good till the rain thing happened and all the drivers turned off their cameras and got outa their cars... Danny was dying of excitement because we could actually HEAR the cars roaring along... even though our computer is to old and slow to see the little movie thingy to well... he liked the sound Summer went on her field trip to the museum in Ohio. They had a good time and all turned out well... sure was early getting her to the school at 5:30 in the morning! They spent alot of time on the bus though... I think she told me 3 hours each way... but kids love that kinda stuff anyway! Danny and I planted some tomatoes and peppers in the back yard... and he wanted pumpkins... so I let him have 2 hills... Tim got some kind of seeds that are suppose to grow 100 pound pumpkins...eeegad! We discovered a bird nest in the peach tree too. I boosted Danny's fat butt up and we saw 3 blue eggs. Last weekend we peeked in and we found 3 baby birds with no feathers... Danny said they were orange.. pretty close to it I'd say. Today they are getting big enough to see their little heads with wide open mouths peeking out and we don't have to stand on a chair anymore! Probably fly away pretty soon. I think that mother bird wants to peck our eyes out for peeking in at her babies! I had my 39th birthday on May 17th... Didn't do too much though. I had wanted Tim to buy me Paint Shop Pro 6, but I seem to have eh.. hem...'found' a copy online and downloaded it... works great and I love it! ------------------------ So now I've been hunting around online to see what else I can 'find'. Nothing real good so far cept the Paint Shop Pro... that works anyways... lots of downloading stuff that don't work! I've also been messing around a little making Outlook Express Stationery. Tim got me 5 new ZIP disks to stash some of my stuff on as I keep finding more and more to download... got tons of Plastic Canvas patterns... (and when I say tons I mean TONS...like almost a GIG or something). then there's paint shop pro tutorials and tubes and stuff and never forget my John Denver pictures and anything else that pertains to him.... and now... finding applications of rather large sizes is filling me up fast. I also got a thing called Audio grabber and learned how to 'RIP' a MP3... got one of JD's 'Back Home Again' on the Newsletter Index page... Pretty cool! I made some more but haven't got them uploaded yet... I had to open yet another Yahoo! site to stash them at as this one is getting full up and I haven't even finished with the baby pictures yet... What I actually got going on right now is 3 yahoos... Summers, Danny's and Mine which is where this newsletter is on... I only get 15 MB per site... So I opened another one to be my official John Denver page... but I'm gonna link the songs from there to here too... Yahoo rules just say that if you open more than one site they can't have the same stuff on them... You also can't use a site just for storage... which I won't be doing since it will be a John Denver tribute page independent of my family stuff... I'll just have links to here also..tee-hee-hee I still want a new computer of my own, as I'm still working on Danny's... but I guess I gotta wait longer yet!! I've had everybody and their brother asking me for technical advise about computers... I don't feel like I know very much about them...but everybody else thinks I do! I talked to Daddy tonight and he said he ordered me some kinda guru computer book... I forget what it is.. but I told him I gotta start studying for to answer other peoples questions I wanted to learn how to build a web page off line and then upload it... but I guess that takes Microsoft FrontPage 2000 to do here on yahoo... I only have FrontPage Express and when I tried to upload everything got all screwy and all the pictures linked back to my disk D (my 'stash' disk) so I could see them but no one else could... so DRAT if I didn't have to do the pages all over online with yahoo page builder!
Tim hasn't been doing too much besides going to work lately... he did spend every weekend of Turkey season at a friends camp... still didn't get a turkey ... he almost became coyote lunch once though. He has been going bowling on one of those little bar bowling machines every Tuesday night. They have a bowling league for those little things (like with the air hockey puck instead of a bowling ball) he's actually won trophies doing that. The kids are anxiously counting down the days until school is out. Danny's last day will be the 7th... which is good because he has a Dr. appt on the 8th. Summer will go ahead and go on the 8th. She has totally perfect attendance for all year...pretty cool huh? She half thinks she doesn't want school to end... lemme guess...not the academic half.. but the social half... ( and I'm stretching it to say that she's half academic.... she thinks school is social hour lately!!) And now it's time for me to get the swimming pool fixed up... there is a leak SOMEWHERE... I just haven't found it yet... gotta get rid of all the swamp green stuff first... Too much like work really... We got Danny a new snap set... I only let him in the big one if I'm in there with him for fear he'll end up with some of that chemical water in his lungs... Don't think Dr. Ackerman would appreciate him on a vent in the summer!! (me either for that matter!!) I talked to Mike today. He is up North on vacation. He rode the bus due to the gas prices and the fact that his truck is a gas hog...so he's at Chris's without any wheels! I also talked to Judy today. She's up to her elbows in kids as usual... 4 kids is enough to make a person not have a life!! I even let Summer talk to Sara for a little bit. Daddy is doing fine. considering... He's up and trying to do physical therapy. I think that surgery is taking alot longer than he thought it would to come out of. But his voice sounds alot stronger like he has more air behind it so that's good. He usually has more problems in the summer time due to the heat and humidity so I hope he stays well! He had his birthday on the 12th.... I called him, but his card and present still sits here unsent... DUH! Anyways...I suppose that's all the May chat and news I have. I better go figger June out!! I'm seriously beginning to wonder if my message board even works anymore... the last message I got was on May 6th or close to it... AND I'M THE ONE WHO POSTED IT... one more thing... I have sent Danny's info for 'Profiles of Success" on the Prentke Romich page... so we need to be watching to see if he turns up there anytime soon. Here's th URL if y'all forgot where the site is : http://www.prentrom.com/index.html He's not there yet... but probably will be soon...and HEY... CHECK OUT THE NEW PATHFINDER while you are there! Our 5 years on the DeltaTalker are up in 2001... and so is our warrantee... so you know the first time it breaks after our time is up I'll be getting him re-evaluated and see what's new in the AC world... but shoot looks like there may be more to break on the Pathfinder. but just look at this sentence I copied from there: Powerful and Rugged The Pathfinder is lightweight (4.5lbs), compact and reliable. Its rugged construction allows it to be used every day in a variety of environments. Its battery life will provide over 10 hours of continuous use, more than enough for the most demanding operators. I just sort of wonder how 'rugged' rugged means. sure wish they'd team up with Tonka or Little Tykes in the design of his next talker... Lord knows we've sent his DeltaTalker in from his 'everyday wear and TEAR' almost every 6 months!! OH well...2001 is a long way off in the world of Augmentative Communication...we'll just have to wait and see what happens! OK...for real...Time to quit and go to bed!! I wish you all Peace, Love, Health, Hope & Happiness Linda |
