Summer
Silently the morning mist is lying on the water captive moonlight waiting for the dawn ... Softly like a babies breath A breeze begins to whisper the sun is coming quick you must be gone.
Smiling like a superstar the morning comes in singing, the promise of another sunny day. And all the flowers open up to gather in the sunshine, I do believe that summer's here to stay.
Do you care what's happening around you, Do your senses know the changes when they come, Can you see yourself reflecting in the season, Can you understand the need to carry on.
Riding on the tapestry of all there is to see so many ways and oh so many things Rejoicing in the diff'rences there's no one just like me yet as diff'rent as we are we're still the same.
And oh, I love the life within me I feel a part of everything I see And oh, I love the life around me, A part of everything is here in me. A part of everything is here in me. A part of everything is here in me.
Words & Music by John Denver, Mike Taylor and Dick Kniss from Rocky Mountain High (1972) version sung by J.Denver in An Evening With John Denver (1975 |

Well, aren't I just on the ball? Main problem is I don't remember what happened all summer!! Well, the first 10 days of summer vacation Summer went to stay with Emmett Lee...When she got home we had people swimming every day all day...and grass mowing and cleaning up after the dog and such ordinary business in the back yard.
The beginning of June we went over to CompUSA and were going to get a new computer...they talked us into a Prodigy hookup to get a huge rebate...So we signed on to Prodigy for 3 years and were given a $400.00 gift certicate to put toward whatever we wanted...Then we commenced to pick out the computer...only to find out in the long run that our credit card wouldn't approve it and we had misunderstood what they had told us was our credit line....so there we were...400$ coupon and can't get the computer! We were also told that the paper we signed with Prodigy was legal and binding and we couldn't take it back and change our minds less we wanted to pay them $400.00! So we got a new printer and scanner of nice quality with the money and I ended up ordering my new computer from Fingerhut...Well, I'll be paying forever, but I love the new computer...got 600MHZ of power and with the RAM card I took back from Danny's I have 126MB RAM...
But much to my dismay, the Prodigy hook-up was MUCH slower than AT&T was...I had always done fine downloading my emails and getting across the interenet...suddenly I was having time-outs all over the place and my email was bouncing like crazy and I was committed for the next 3 years...I was told that the new modem...a US Robotics wasn't as compatable with Prodigy as the one in Danny's a Modem Master 8000..so a bad connection was what I had to live with... NOT... Recently (it's Sept. when I'm writing this) I got a Prodigy DSL connection and I've never seen anything faster!!
4th of July we had some big boom booms! Danny just loves them..even tho all the smoke isn't too good for him...I buy him those little snapper things that pop when you throw them on the ground...Summer's addiction is bottle rockets..
We planted 4 tomatoes and they really thrived...Danny planted some giant pumpkins and has got 2 really big ones and probably 4 smaller ones...he had fun all summer going out to check on them...although one time he stepped on something bare foot and sliced the bottom of his foot pretty bad and we had to baby that along for awhile... |

The kids spent alot of time in the pool. Danny now refuses to go in his little pool anymore...he insists on the big one...but I make him wear a life jacket...he's learned that he can bounce up and down really high without even a noodle because the life jacket does it too...splashes about half the water out of the pool.
Summer went to spend a weekend with her Lee Grandparents at the end of the summer...they took her out shopping and to the arcade at the mall and she just had an all around great time...I'm hoping they did too. While she was gone I worked my butt off and had a yard sale...it was supposed to be our 'neighborhood sale' but not many people participated...so I spent a hard 12 hour day and ended up with $41.00 to show for it!! Too much like work and the garage is still full!!!
And at the very end of the summer she got a new boyfriend from around the block and down the street...this one is more like a REAL boyfriend....like I feel the need to be watching her at all times...I think it was easier with Joey who expressed emotion with a good old fashioned punch in the arm or such silliness!!
I think probably the absolute biggest event of this summer was the fact that Daddy got online...with AOL... ;-( .....but he is online and sending and receiving emails...I started out sending him my big old QUE Win95 book and I think that scared the crap outa him...He like Summer's better, it was called "The Internet for Kids" and Lisa gave me AOL for Dummies to give him....but he was having trouble learning the computer...so this week I sent him Win95 for Dummies and Dummies 101: for Windows...I think he'll understand more outa those two books!
and last but not least...first I got a CD burner...Gary came over to install it and found a ton of conflicts in my device manager on my new computer....anyway....it crashed bad...pretty soon it couldn't find any CD drive...ooops...so he took it home and messed around with it for hours and hours and finally ended up reformatting the whole thing....so I could get it back up and running before the DSL dude got here 3 days later to install the DSL modem...OH SHOOT! I've never had to be reformatting before and OMG do I feel lost and confused without all my addresses, bookmarks, and stuff I had saved!!! Got a new CD-burner and had nothing to burn... |

But...Summer discovered Napster! Well, now...there was some stuff to download... and MAN OH MAN does this DSL download at incredible speeds... We also learned that if you convert them to WAV format you can burn them on a Cd that plays in the boom box...oh oh... no wonder napster is in so much trouble!! But we love them!!
So...like I know this has been way too much computer talk for a 3 month newsletter. I have bunches of films to send in that we may have pics of this summer vacation... So maybe I'll talk Tim into giving me a check to mail them and let the pics tell all the stuff I have forgotten!!
Until later Peace, Linda
and now I must think about September letter...there's no graphics or JD pics or stuff on my computer anymore...I'm working my butt off to get it all back...but man oh man...I miss my stuff!! |
