April 2000
Gravel On The Ground
If our lives could lie before us like a straight and narrow highway
So that we could see forever, long before we took the ride
We would never look to heaven, make a wish or climb a mountain
'Cause we'd always know the answer what's on the other side

But life ain't no easy freeway, just some gravel on the ground
You pay for every mile you go to spread some dust around
Tho' we all have destinations , and the dust will settle down
This life ain't no easy freeway, just some gravel on the ground

So let's walk the road together
Who knows what we'll find tomorrow
Maybe good times, maybe sorrow will be                 waitin' round the bend
Given time, two hearts discover what they're                 feelin' for each other
At the best we'll end up lovers, at the least we'll make a friend

But life ain't no easy freeway, just some gravel on the ground
You pay for every mile you go to spread some dust around
Tho' we all have destinations , and the dust will settle down
But life ain't no easy freeway, just some gravel on the ground
You pay for every mile you go to spread some dust around
Tho' we all have destinations , and the dust will settle down
This life ain't no easy freeway, just some gravel on the ground

Excuses for a newsletter page for April being built on May 07 :
1.  I wanted a "Gravel on the Ground" background, but could not find one...so I scooped some gravel out out the fish tank, cleaned and dried it, scanned it and commenced to make a background.  WELL, I have come to the conclusion that a "seamless" background is totally impossible for someone like me who totally flunked geometry!  So now we live with the seams...cause I just can't do it.  I keep coming up with a kaleidoscope effect which is way weirder than having seams.

2.  Yahoo! is being totally impossible and won't let me on...then if I do get on Page Builder has a cow and won't save my pages and such...Making it a really pain in the butt to work here!

3.  Been way too busy 'collecting' stuff on the Internet and chatting with cyber friends to stay here very long!

That's enough excuses...now...if I could only remember what the heck happened in April to write about I'll be doing better!!
Well, I was gonna write about shack smashing...
but that was on March 27th...  :-(
We did sign up for Prodigy this month at CompUSA.
They gave us a $400.00 certificate toward whatever we wanted in their store for a 3 year contract with Prodigy.
Well, alot of people say they aren't gonna sign up with anybody for that long!
As far as I figure, we gotta sign up with somebody and Prodigy costs the same as the next one and $400.oo is alot of money the next one isn't gonna let us have....so...I got a brand new scanner and printer.
The scanner is wonderful...
although I have to practice on it a bit more to get the total hang of all it's advanced features!
It's a Hewlett Packard ScanJet 5200C for anybody who really wants to know.  The printer I had problems with...
It's a Lexmark Z31.
The black wouldn't work right off the bat so I called CompUSA and whined.
They said best they could figure is that the ink packed with it was old and clogged.
Well, it's one of the kind that has the print jets inside the ink cartridge so they cost around $47.00 apiece and I wasn't about to spend that much..shoot the printer itself was only $99.00...the ink would come close to that if we had to get new ones right away.
But CompUSA said since it hadn't even been 14 days when I called them that they would replace them...
so I exchanged them and now everything is working fine.
Danny has been fine.
At our April clinic Dr. Ackerman left everything the same.
He had to be on 40mg prednisone every other day for over a month and he remained on those big mist treatments with the 2 vials of Xopenex every 4 hours in the daytime to equal 5 treatments within 24 hours.

Summer seems to be doing well.
She promises that she is checking with the teachers asking if she has missing homework assignments and keeping up with them.
We'll see when report cards come out.
She may have to spend the entire school year missing her favorite night time tv shows if there's any missing this time.
After the report that comes out pretty soon there will only be 9 weeks of school left...so she better keep her work done.
The catch word with her this update would be "Nate"...a new name for sure!  Like I said...the school years almost done...
Nate is in the 8th grade so he'll move onto high school next year and she'll have one more middle school year left!
Tim tilled me up the spot where the shack stood that is now filled with fresh topsoil to plant a garden.
He needs to till it one more time before I can plant though because it's been raining alot and it's all hard again.
I heard from Mike who called to tell me to tell dad that he was going home the first week of June.
Mike was rather upset the day he called as Stevie Paxton's mother had just died and she was like Mike's mother also.
So he couldn't talk too long as there was much funeral 'to-do' going on around him.
He says he's ok and living in what sounds like a travel trailer on his property in Kansas, building on his house as he can afford it.
Judy's twins wrote to Danny and so far I haven't gotten him to write back.
They seem to be fine and playing video games and such.
Sarah writes to Summer now and again.
Too bad they don't have  email as that would make communication alot easier.
I got a very interesting email from cousin Terry...this is what it said:

Heading to Florida and we're  going on the ocean and we're gonna get married going on the ocean and we're gonna get married......
See ya when we get back and thanks for all the best wishes.....
Reception is July 29, 2000 at the Trenary Community Building
T-n-A

So it sounds like Terry and Angie are gonna take the big plunge if that really meant what it said!  Well , good for him ...It's about time!

The Easter Bunny made his grand appearance in April.
He brought Danny a Dayle Earnhardt backpack instead of an Easter basket.
It has a Jeremy Mayfield hauler, a couple of hot wheels that look like Indy cars, a new outfit and believe it or not I forgot what else.
Summer got a huge square wicker basket
( to store all her toiletries on her dresser in when Easter is over)
with a bunch of new earrings for her newly pierced ears,
and some lip glosses,
and some weird spray lotion she wanted and a new outfit and of course some 'jelly-belly' jellybeans and a chocolate bunny...
(Danny doesn't do candy so he didn't get any)
We spent Easter down on the farm as Grandma and Grandpa had just gotten back from Florida.
We checked up on the "monster tractor" but there was another white one in it's place...that amused Danny for days!
And so I'll bet that's all I can remember about April...
If I think of anything else I'll just come back here and edit.
