It is not the intention of the doula to interfere with the relationship between the partners during the intimate process of birth. Rather, the doula use her experience to support and reassure the couple throughout labor. This gives the couple freedom to participate at their own comfort level. Whether it is to refresh what was learned in childbirth classes or to offer a new perspective, the doula nourishes and enhance the bond that created this miracle in the first place.
