I always thought this album was so totally un-Lilys that it bummed me out. Now, after hearing their new album, Better Can't Make Your Life Better, I realize that they really always sound exactly like the Lilys, but with different guitar effects and tempos. The singer has a way of stringing together long lines of words in such a way that they don't always fit between the bars. Liz Phair does this too - maybe that's why Dawn thinks they sound similar. I think it's a great thing to do. It makes the words seem more interesting - as if each phrase is so important that there's no way they could cut out any words to make them fit any better.
