The Buttonman Competition
Runners: Louis & Randomized
The brainchild of Charles Hurst, created eight years ago along with the Playground. Bored with the natural sheep-like tendencies of human beings, Charles decided to see if normal, everyday people would be able to survive in extreme situations. Following this theory, he designed the Playground and hired several hitmen to be his hunters, while arranging for the abduction of people based on their jobs; normal people, such as butchers, postmen, doctors, policemen. Anyone.
The first competition was a massive success; Charles found he could read the "contestants" by their reactions, could manipulate them with external stimuli into becoming no longer sheep, but wolves.
If a contestant survives the competition, they are offered a place in the next contest. If they decline the offer, they are discreetly shot. With each consecutive year, Charles invites more people to watch and place bets, offering entertainment for many elite within the Syndicate. Through the competition many killers are made, and so Charles provides a steady stream of hitters.
Many people who speak against the Syndicate are sent to the Playground.
The Playground:
A town built deep in the Nevada desert; This is where the competitors of the Buttonman competition are taken. Designed eight years ago by Charles Hurst, the town is laced with hidden passages, cameras, and speakers. No one knows why the Playground is built like an old western town, Charles himself won't say, but below the town is a network of tunnels and rooms from which the enigmatic billionaire and his guests may watch the games. This is also where the hitmen rest between kills. Most of the Nevada politicians in his or the Syndicate's pocket, Charles has nothing to worry about from the authorities, who ruthlessly deny the existence of the Playground.
