Diane completely sacrifices her personal life to bring you the skinny on the Maryland/ Washington, D.C./ Delaware/ Northern Virginia scene.

So why don't we call this page "On the Towns" or "On the States"? I don't know everything!!!

Anyhoo, if you've got something you think the lesbian community should know about, send it to Diane!

Hey!

GET THE RAINBOW FLAGS OUT! PUT THEM NEXT TO THE AMERICAN FLAGS!
I'm agog!! There will be a referendum to try to stop the gay rights law Governor Glendenning just had passed this year. You all must vote and get out everyone else you know to stop this thing before we get trampeled upon. If you haven't registered to vote, here is where your vote can count, remember how George Bush got in, he wouldn't let all of the votes get counted. We need to make it a landslide event. No one knows who or what  you are in the voting booth, you have complete privacy, for once really make it count. Then, after we get this over, we can get to equal pay issues. Better to be a little early than tooooo lattteeee!!!

Log on to http://maryland.vote.com to tell state leaders if you support (or NOT!) the referendum that would repeal the law prohibiting anti-gay discrimination. Should the gay rights law go into effect, or should the citizens of Maryland have the opportunity to overturn it? When you vote on this issue, your opinion will be sent to Gov. Glendening and state legislative leaders.

This in from PJ:

"Rose and Elle" by Diane Knaus
Diane has written a play but it may need some rewriting before it is performed. Would anyone out there be up to having a reading of the first act in their home? Anyone present may read the following parts: "Rose and Elle" is a four act play about power, sex, coming out, and justice. Major parts are women's (of course!) -- approximately 13 characters with another three telephone voices and two little girls voices; three strong women's parts and one minor (but strategic) part.

The ceremonies will be performed two days a week at the visitor's center by a city official. I sure would like to see how they draws straws as to who does the officiating. Why its me, oh no lets draw that again oh me goodness no!!
Wish I could have a camera there in the back room.

Enjoy!
