Federation of Aids Organisations
AFAO is the
peak non-government organisation representing Australia's
community-based response to HIV/AIDS. AFAO's work includes
education, policy, advocacy and international projects
United Nations
UNAIDS, the
Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, brings together the
efforts and resources of ten UN system organizations to the global
AIDS response.
Cosponsors include UNHCR, UNICEF, WFP, UNDP, UNFPA, UNODC, ILO,
UNESCO, WHO and the World Bank. Based in Geneva, the UNAIDS
secretariat works on the ground in more than 75 countries world
wide.
World Health Organisation
The World
Health Organization is the United Nations specialized agency for
health. It was established on 7 April 1948. WHO's objective, as set
out in its Constitution, is the attainment by all peoples of the
highest possible level of health. Health is defined in WHO's
Constitution as a state of complete physical, mental and social
well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
