REDDING, CA –THE ANGEL’S HOUSE – JUL. 27th, 2002 – SATURDAY

Kirstin heard the door being unlocked, and knowing it was Grace, she turned around.

“You’re back…” Kirstin started but stopped after looking at the figure standing in front off the door “What are you doing here?” she asked with hatred in her voice and entire face.

“Well, I had to congratulate the bride, didn’t I?” she said with a sarcastic smile on.

     “No one invited you.”

“Yes, I know. And to tell you the truth, I was a little hurt about that Kirstin. But I’m willing to forgive you.”

“Who let you into the house?”

“No one. The door was open, everyone seems to be in the backyard, so I came up and searched for you in every room and here you are!”

“Get out. Get out now!” Kirstin raised her voice.

“Easy, easy, Kirstin. It’s your wedding day, you shouldn’t be so stressed up like that.”

“I’m asking you to get out, Cindy, or else I’m gonna scream and someone will take you out.”

“Oh, is that a threat now? That’s rare coming from you to me.” Cindy took a couple of steps closer to Kirstin.

“You don’t come closer to me or I won’t be responsible for my actions.” Kirstin warned her.

“I’m not recognizing you, Kirstin. Where does all that confidence come from, huh?”

     “I’m warning you!”

“You are, aren’t you? Wow, is a wedding that powerful that it can change a poor innocent little girl into a confident woman? I don’t think so. I think you’re still shaking from the inside, you just don’t want me to see your fear. Oh, but I do. It’s right there. You fear me, Kirstin, and you always will.”

“Oh, it’s so nice to see you so wrong, Cindy. I couldn’t be less scared of someone than I am of you right now. Actually, you will never frighten me anymore. You were right about something. I was a poor innocent little girl, a chicken actually, but it’s not the wedding that changed me. What changed me was the one thing you’ve always wished for, but you never had it, because it was mine: Ashley’s love.”

“That’s what you think. He loved me once. And he still does, he’s just too blind from the spell you placed on him.”

“You mean you had his love that one time you guys had sex during high school? I guess you’re the poor innocent little girl here, Cindy. He never loved you. He always loved me.” now Kirstin was the one getting closer to Cindy.

“Yes, he did!” Cindy was fooling herself.

“Oh, no, he didn’t. He never did. You were just a one night stand for him. I don’t think it even lasted a whole night with you, did it?” Kirstin asked and Cindy didn’t say a word “I’m his true love, Cindy. I’m the one he’s marrying!”

“That doesn’t mean anything.” Cindy’s eyes were starting to fill up with tears.

“Oh, it does. It means a lot! He loves me enough to want to spend his whole life with me, while he couldn’t stand to spend one lousy night with you.”

“Shut up!” Cindy raised her tone.

“What is that now, Cindy? Are those tears in your eyes?”

“Shut up, shut up!” the tears were starting to flow and Cindy was rapidly wiping them away.

“Why should I? Why should I shut up when you made me think less of myself for saying awful things through my high school days and just a few months ago turned my life into hell again and almost made me lose Ashley for good?” Cindy didn’t say a word again “Huh, Cindy? Tell me, why would I shut up now when you made me suffer so badly for so long? Why would I do as you wish when you did nothing but hurt me? I think you deserve much more than what I’m giving you, but I’m not gonna sink to your level, Cindy. Oh, no. Because I’m much better than you are. So, I’m asking you for the last time, get the hell out of my room and out of this house!”

“You are never gonna make Ashley happy, Kirstin. I’m the one for him.”

“I already make him happier than he ever was. Now get out!” Kirstin rushed to the door and opened it so Cindy could leave.

Cindy took a look at Kirstin, started to open her mouth to say something, but changed her mind and stormed out of the room.

Kirstin was closing the door behind her, but a hand stopped her from doing so.

     “What the hell was that?”

“Oh, G, you scared me there. I thought it was Cindy back here and I don’t think I could handle her anymore.”

“That was Cindy?” Grace asked, knowing everything about the girl since Kirstin let her in on the subject. Kirstin nodded “The Cindy?” Kirstin nodded again “Oh, my God! You made her cry!”

“I know.” Kirstin sat on the bed.

“I can’t believe you made her cry!” Grace closed the door of Emily’s room “And… why aren’t you happy?” Grace noticed the look on Kirstin’s face.

“I don’t know. I’m really not like that. I was really nasty with her.”

“Kirstin, please, don’t feel bad about it. I wasn’t here to listen to what you’ve said to her, but I’m sure every single word you said was deserved. She was a bitch and she had to be put in her place. The nerve of her showing up here on the day of your wedding!”

“I know! That’s what pissed me off the most! How could she show up here on the most important day of my life? She did it because she knew she was gonna make me feel bad somehow.”

“Kirstin, can’t you see? If someone felt bad this time, it was her. She left here crying, for Christ’s sake! Kirstin…” Grace got closer to her face and pulled her chin up “You won this time, honey. And I think you’ve won for good.”

     “You think so?”

“I know so. That girl will never show her face to you again.”

     “Really?”

“Really, baby. Now, just stop worrying about that stupid slut, take your bouquet right here and let’s get you married.”

“Ok.” Kirstin stood up and smiled, heading out the door.
