~*~ Chapter 83 ~*~
REDDING, CA – THE ANGEL’S HOUSE – JUL. 27th, 2002 – SATURDAY
Grace had gotten Kirstin from the spa / beauty saloon from where she had been since 8 a.m. Kirstin had her make up and her hair done and they were heading straight to Ashley’s.
It was 3 p.m. when they arrived at his house. Emily, Ashley’s sister, had let Gloria, Kirstin and Paula, Ashley’s mother, prepare her own room to be where the bride would get ready.
Before they would enter the house, Grace went in first to make sure Ashley couldn’t see Kirstin. When she saw the path was clear, she waved at Kirstin, who was waiting in the car, and she ran inside, straight to Emily’s room. There stood Gloria, Paula, Emily and Kelly, Kirstin’s sister.
“Oh, my God! You’re so beautiful, sis!” Kelly held the tears up.
“Thank you, Kel. Thank you so much.” Kirstin hugged her tight “Where’s mom and dad?”
“Oh… Mom is taking ages to get ready. I think she thinks it’s her own wedding, I don’t know!” everyone giggled.
“Oh, Kel, don’t be mean.”
“Seriously, K. I told her I had to be here early because of the dress and all, so I asked her to drop me off here, but she wouldn’t! Dad had to bring me. She said she was late getting ready for your wedding. And it was 10 a.m.!”
“Oh, mom!” Kirstin shook her head.
“And…” Kirstin looked at Kelly and Emily “Why don’t you two have your bride’s maid dresses on?”
“There’s still 3 hours left, Kirstin.” Emily smiled at her “There’s plenty of time.”
“But what about your make up and hair and everything?” Kirstin was starting to freak out again.
“Kirstin, don’t worry.” Grace tried to calm her down “They had to wait for me, because I’m the one who’s doing the hair and make-up.”
“Oh, yeah, I forgot. Sorry!” Kirstin apologized to them “It’s just that I’m so freaking out right now. I want everything to be perfect today.”
“Don’t worry, sweety.” Paula got closer to her and held both her hands “It will be, I’m sure.”
“Thank you.” Kirstin thanked her with a smile upon her face “But… what about the flowers? Did they deliver them yet?”
“Well, after the speech you gave them on Wednesday for being late just for the trial, they showed up here 1 p.m. and everything is ready in the backyard.” Gloria informed her.
“Good. Good. See, Grace? The speech was worth it!”
“Well, yeah, but you didn’t have to yell at that poor eighteen-year-old guy!”
“He wasn’t doing his job!”
“Ok, ok.” Grace giggled.
“So, where’s my dress?”
“It’s right here, sweety.” Paula opened Emily’s closet and took a big white box out of it with the silver writings “Casablanca” on it.
“Oh…” Kirstin headed to Paula’s direction “Are you guys sure Ashley didn’t see it?”
“Of course! He knows he’s not allowed in my room ever and he has no idea we converted it into your wedding day room. So he definitely wasn’t here” Emily informed.
“Good.” Kirstin laughed lightly.
“So… shall we begin the preparations?” Gloria informed.
“Please!” Kirstin exclaimed.
“Ok, so we’re out of here.” Emily took Kelly and Emily’s hand and left the room. Gloria and Paula stayed in.
“Let’s start then.” Gloria said, Kirstin started to take her clothes off and Paula got the wedding dress out of the box.
“I’m ready. And there’s still an hour and a half to go before the ceremony.” Ashley informed his band members, who were now standing in front of him in his bedroom. Ashley had no idea Kirstin was just a few doors away from him already.
“It will fly like crazy.” Erik informed.
“Yeah, you won’t even see these hours pass by!” Trevor tried to calm him down too.
“Ok, but what do I do until then?” Ashley asked.
“Well, did you revise your vows again?” Dan asked.
“I stopped doing that after the 17th time.” Ashley said.
“Oh…” Dan looked down.
“Hm…” Jacob started “Maybe… I don’t know. No ideas here, guys.”
“Great!” Ashley exclaimed and threw his hands up in the air.
“Maybe you should just relax, Ash. You sure need that.” Trevor tried.
“I guess Trev is right, Ashley.” Dan continued “Why don’t you just… I don’t know… go downstairs and talk to the guests? Maybe it will make you forget for a while that this is your wedding day.”
“Impossible. But the idea doesn’t sound too bad. I should go say hi to the guests.”
“Good. Let’s go then.” Jacob opened the door and they left the room.
“What time is it?” Kirstin asked Gloria.
“It’s 5 p.m.”
“Oh, my God! There’s only one hour left!”
“Yeah, but you’re ready, sweety!” Paula informed.
“No, I’m not! I still have to go over my vows again! It’s not good enough.”
“I’m pretty sure it’s amazing.” Gloria said with a smile “Listen, Kirstin, I gotta go downstairs to check on the last minutes details.”
“I’ll go with you.” Paula said “Will you be alright?”
“Sure, you two go ahead. Please, make sure everything is fine. Please, please, please!” Kirstin pleaded.
“Don’t worry, honey.” Gloria took her hand on hers “And I’ll get up here with you bouquet soon, ok?”
“Alright. I’ll be waiting.”
“You look extremely beautiful, Kirstin. My Ashley is so lucky to have a bride so beautiful and so good like you.” Paula said.
“Oh, Paula, stop it. If anyone’s lucky in this marriage, it’s me. Ashley is the most wonderful guy I’ve ever met. You’ve raised a fine young man!” Kirstin smiled.
“Thank you.” Paula also grinned.
“So, we’re going.” Gloria informed Kirstin.
“Bye.” Paula and Gloria said in unison.
