REDDING, CA –THE ANGEL’S HOUSE – JUL. 22th, 2002 – MONDAY

“Ok, come in and sit.” Ashley asked Kirstin when they entered his room.

“What? Is something wrong?” Kirstin started to worry.

“No…” Ashley frowned “Why would something be wrong?”

“Oh, well, you’re being all serious, asking me to enter and sit down. I don’t know… I thought you were gonna say something bad, like… call off the wedding.”

“Oh, please, never! Don’t even think about it! Don’t be silly!” Ashley smiled in relief.

“What is it then?” she asked as Ashley sat beside her on the bed.

“It’s just that I was having this idea…”

     “What idea?” Kirstin frowned.

“About us writing our own vows.”

“Really?” Kirstin didn’t sound too happy.

“Why? You hated it?” Ashley asked.

“No, it’s not that.” Kirstin decided to calm his down after seeing his not so happy face “It’s just that… for you that’s easy! You’re used to it. You write songs all the time. But me?”

“You’re majoring in journalism, for Christ’s sake!” Ashley smiled.

     “I know! But it’s different.”

“How is it different? You’re just gonna have to write some stuff down. You’re used to it.”

     “Not really.”

“Not really? What do you do in college, then?”

“I don’t write about my feelings in essays! That’s what’s different and that’s what’s hard!” Kirstin raised her voice a bit, because Ashley was starting to annoy her.

“Oh, I’m sorry, honey. Didn’t cross my mind.”

“Obviously...” Kirstin crossed her arms in front of her chest and turned around a little.

“K, forgive me, please. But what are you so afraid of, huh? I mean… you just have to write what you feel.”

“But that’s not that easy for some people, Ashley.”

     “I know… But… couldn’t you at least try?”

“I could try, but I know it would suck.”

     “I very much doubt that.”

“Oh, yeah? I don’t think you should. I suck at it and I know it.” Kirstin was being a little too hard on Ashley.

“Oh…” Ashley looked down “Ok.” he sounded a bit hurt “That’s fine. I understand. If you can’t even try to write your feelings for me down, I understand. I guess…”

Kirstin turned to look at him. He was looking down with a sad face on.

“Ash, listen.” she felt guilty “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to be so bitchy. It’s just that it’s really hard for me to write about my feelings. But…” noticing that Ashley was still a little upset, she decided “Ok, let’s do it. Let’s write our own vows.”

“Are you sure?” Ashley showed a little hope in his voice.

     “Yeah, sure, why not?”

“Oh, K, thank you so much!” Ashley kissed her on the lips.

“Why do you want it so badly, anyway?”

“Well…” Ashley started, but Kirstin cut him off.

“Wait! You have your vows already written, don’t you?” Kirstin asked incredulous.

     “Well… yeah.” Ashley nodded.

“I can’t believe it!” she smiled and shook her head “You’re unbelievable.“

“I know.” Ashley smiled a bit.

“And snobby too! I didn’t mean a good unbelievable.”

“Oh, now you hurt me.” Ashley pouted.

“Come on.” Kirstin hit his leg “Silly. But I can’t promise my vows are gonna be as perfect as I know yours are.”

“Oh, I know that. Nothing comes closer to perfection than my wedding vows.”

“Oh, shut up and kiss me now!” Kirstin grabbed him from the shirt and pressed her lips hard on his, deepening the kiss quickly.
