I think my ability to write was developed through consistent practice, mold by time, intervened by experiences and highlighted by inspirations. But it won’t be possible if I’m not a student..for where did I learn to read and write but in school. Of course it’s at home in the first place, but not everything can be learned on it. I have experienced a lot of things and the writer in me has noted it down.

I spend two years in Banaba South Day Care Center. Funny, but its not because I failed but because my age wasn’t enough to be admitted for Grade I. I got the third place on honor roll on my first kinder. On the second.. you bet! I’m the most outstanding day care child. My talent was always to recite a poem. (so sad, but it’s until now.)

From Grade1 to higher grades, I'm the first honor; and I graduated valedictorian at Banaba South Elementary School. I find it hard to recall my teachers by that time since most of them weren't there anymore. But with my sister's help, I completed the list (arranged from Grade I to Grade VI) Mrs. Arsenia Macatangay,Mrs. Erlinda Faltado, Mrs. Lourdes Acorda, Mrs. Julieta Cueto, Mrs. Adora Gutierez, Mrs. Soledad Roxas, and our principal: Mrs. Alicia Valenzuela.

I hit the third place but we’re two. For the tie-breaking question, they have: What is the horizontal imaginary line that divide the globe into two equal halves?..Poor me, I don’t know what the English term for “ekwador” so I wrote “Ecuador” unaware that it’s a country. I lose, since then equator became one of the most unforgettable word for me.

As I deliver my valedictory address, my youngest sister(by that time she was 3 years old) join me onstage (I’m unaware of it at first). People were expecting me to narrate a dramatic story my success (though little) but I was distracted when I see her about to touch my stockings. She really like it even when we’re at home. But the worst thing is I forgot to greet the important people during that day including the district supervisor, guest speaker and barangay chairman, all because of that.

Student writer....(for myself)

Being a writer, I can write about almost anything as long as I’m in the mood. There are times however, that even when I’m not inspired, myself obliged me to write just to ease the pain. When I’m so down and there’s no one to listen, I write. When I’m so overwhelmed and I want to cherish every moment, I write. When I have to say something but can’t do it personally, I write, but sometimes not given. I’m fond of collecting unsent letters. Why? Because while I’m writing I have all the courage to write what I want, but when I’m through, I lost all the guts. I have share laughter and tears with my paper and pen. It was raining on a certain day during my Grade II. Recess time and I stood by the door watching my classmates playing. Suddenly one of them bumped me and I fall breaking the umbrella underneath. How sad, it belongs to my teacher. She spank all of us (It’s not my fault, I should have been spared!. It doesn’t hurt anyway.)

...Always on top 20 ( It’s hard for me to make it on top, 1st yr.-8th place, 2nd yr.-14th place, 3rd yr. – 20th place. Do you think I manage to be on the roll on my fourth year? Of course I did. I graduated 12th honorable mention with a certificate of recognition as a 'Volcano' staffer plus a silver medal for winning on essay writing contest. Just a few award to keep me humble.

I always got an average of not lower that 1.65 availing me this kind of scholarship. No tuition fees paid, but MISCELLANEOUS is a punishment!

one of my greatest frustration. It makes me a frustrated chemical engineer because the time I turned this down, I also give up my dream of being an engineer. I think, I should have defer it before. But, everything happens for a reason, I can’t do anything to change what happened. Now, I still have the notice of being a qualified one for a 4-5 BS course. But, what’s the use…I have never enjoyed this scholarship!

my current scholarship. I’m enjoying this for five semesters. Grant is Php 8000 per sem. Though not enough it helps a lot.
