Johan Rydell
- Former Prince of Toronto
- Clan Ventrue
- Well known, with an impressive lineage
- Insulted the Nosferatu, after their assistance in retaking the city
- Returned to Europe

Johan Rydell was the first, and doubtlessly one of the worst, Princes of Toronto.

Rydell was all charm and no substance. He initially appeared to be extremely persuasive, intelligent and a natural leader. This shortly gave way to reveal a rather insecure dictator with a Napoleon-complex.

Rydells reign was controversial from the start. He appointed Ray, a Setite as the citys Seneschal. (Supposedly to earn the support of the Setites in the city for the Camarilla, but actually part of some rather corrupt backroom dealing.) Rydell tended to choose officers who were ill suited for their roles. It is not clear whether he feared they would become threats, or if he was simply incompetent.

Three months after taking power Rydell made a rather foolish error. His Scourge, Gavin Sparks, entered frenzy and began to threaten him. A Nosferatu stepped into Gavins way and protected the Prince.

In exchange for this service the Nosferatu asked for a life boon. Rydell balked at this saying that his life was never in any real danger and that he could have dealt with the matter on his own. Rydell offered two major boons instead. When the Nosferatu threatened to destroy his reputation, Rydell declared a Blood Hunt. The Blood Hunt culminated in a rather ill fated expedition into the citys sewers.

The Nosferatu Justicar was also in the city, spying on the new Prince. He approached the Prince and protested the treatment of his clan mate.

The Justicars threats were adequate to convince Rydell to immediately flee Toronto and return to London. Johan now serves in a diminished role there as Primogen of the Ventrue.

Upon leaving, Rydell made perhaps his only good choice and appointed Valerie Stanislaw Sikorski-Kharlamov as his replacement.
