C is for masochists. VB is my preference, especially since I wrote for 15 years in its granddaddy's language: QB!
I can do stuff in one minute that used to take me a week to do before. And STILL takes C programmers 2 months to do!
Surprisingly enough, a number of processing benchmarks have been done with VB vis a vis C, and there aren't that many cases where C is faster. In some cases VB is actually faster than C. I will agree that for some mass-distributed programs, C is still superior. But then, so is assembly language!
Farkel, who thinks programmers are like old war vets who sit around and argue why the Navy is great and Army sucks, and vice-versa.
